The Buford Wolves fell short of history after a tremendous rally with under three minutes to play in the Class AA title game against Calhoun. Sam Clay hit Paris Head on a 24-yard pass and Dillon Lee returned a fumble 40 yards for a score to force overtime but Score 44 kicker Adam Griffith connected on a 32-yard field goal to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 27-24 victory. ... The 2012 Corky Kell Classic field was announced during halftime of the AAAAA game and while two South Georgia powers will be included, several major metro teams will begin the year in the Georgia Dome. Kell will face Chattahoochee; Grayson meets McEachern; North Gwinnett will meet Colquitt County; Peachtree Ridge faces Camden County; finally Brookwood will meet Walton.
