Mojo Jojo has got NOTHING on me!

Before we get to today's picks, I have to say that I was out-popcultured out last night by Wifey. I didn't understand a reference made in Dawson's Creek to Mojo Jojo, and Wifey had to explain to me that MJ was the bad guy in Power Puff girls. Yep. How could I have missed that one? Well, I don't consider today's cartoons to be a part of pop culture. The only cartoons I wish to discuss were the top 110 that I counted down on this very blog several months ago.
Quick before we get to the picks: Jenn Lindley CONTINUES to make me pine for her death when she got angry at a guy (CJ) for not liking her and then sleeping with a girl he was interested in (Audrey aka Skinny Kayle from Paris Hilton's BFF) This goes back to the entire thing of a girl "owning the rights" to a guy and therefore punishing the guy for being attractive and preventing him from dating some one he is interested in who happens to SORT OF be a friend of the original girl. Uncool. Just saying. And PS, Jenn totally broke this Monroe Doctrine by banging Dawson when Joey TOTALLY had the rights to him.
And Eddie, wow is he dreamy. I would have blown off my final too if I was Joey. Just saying..........

Now then, ON TO THE PICKS!

Northwestern @ #17 Minnesota. So Pam Ward brings her dance party to the Minneapolis area this weekend. I saw a stat where Minnesota could actually make the Rose Bowl without winning a single game against a ranked opponent (they miss Penn State on the schedule this year and they lost to duh Ohio State.) Hey cool, we can see USC drop a missle on the Gophers! Can't wait. Take the Gophers in this one JUST SO the Rose Bowl can continue to give us TURRBULL games and maybe THEN the stuffy Rose Bowl committee can FINALLY realize, "Hey let's make a good game opposed to a stupid tradition!"

Wisco @ #21 Michigan State. The Spartans are ranked again? THE BIG 11! FOOTBALL IS BACK! Wait. no, nevermind. That thrillfest that was PSU/OSU last week....it put Daddio to sleep. (well that and a little Dewers, but I digress). So Michigan State is the fourth best team in the Big 11? And they got crushed by Ohio State, who got crushed by USC, who got crushed by Oregon State? Hmmmmmmmmmm Maybe the Rose Bowl should just get two teams that aren't from the PAC10 or the Big 11 altogether! But I am banking on Sparty rallying to win several in a row and knock off PSU to end the year. Sorry JoePa. The 300 win this one

West Va @ UConn. I always think this game is funny: the hillbillies v the Bluebloods. I don't know why, but it always is. West Va will have Tommy Bowden breathing down Stewart's neck, which is like having Blaine Boyer come into a game for Chris Reitsma. But West Va can't screw this one up can they? They looked pretty decent against Auburn (who hasn't?) and they will have the two best players on the field in White and Devine. The Neers win.

Miami @ UVa. The Hurricanes coach told the media to go to the UGA/Florida game because "something was going to happen. Don't come to our game. Go to that game. There is your story." Was that giving the press a scoop or trying to NOT get the press to cover his game at UVA where his team will likely lose? Sorry Dennis, UVa continues its roll! GROH MUST STAY!

Auburn @ Ole Miss. At the beginning of the year, Auburn was supposed to be playing for an SEC West bid, not a bowl bid, while Ole Miss was expected to be playing for MAYBE a bowl bid. They are, but they've been losing in recent weeks, setting this game up NOT as a clash of the titans, but as two desperate teams trying to make it to the Independence Bowl. Ole Miss would be happy to go there, Auburn would probably not let Tuberville back on the team charter after the game. Go with Ole Miss in this one at home. The Grove + hot coeds = a big Ole Miss win.

K-State @ KU. Wow this one has to rank RIGHT UP THERE in intrastate games that I REALLY could sleep through. Oh, Colorado/Colorado State. Iowa/Iowa State are right up there too. But Todd Reesing and his coach are going to celebrate this win at Arby's after the game. HEY! I'm thinking Arby's!

#18 Tulsa @ Arkie. I bet Gus Mahlzan was PUMPED about getting to face his old coach in Houston Nutt, but now he has to settle for Bobby Petrino. Hey Gus Gus, Petrino is a REAL offensive genius, not a high school coach that used his best team to leverage several coordinator jobs. Just so you know. Oh Tulsa's offense is good, you say? Ummm do they play in Conference USA or the Meac or the MAC, I forget. Remember Tony Franklin was a genius at Troy too! But Tulsa wins this because Arkie isn't very good. Hey Petrino, THANKS FOR THE BLACK EYE FOR THE SEC! You and Sly Croom are AWESOME!

Colorado @ TAMU. How exciting, the loser of this game will likely get the #1 pick in next season's Big 12 draft...wait, it doesn't work like that? Crap. Well, go with Colorado, because THIS AIN'T INTRAMURALS BROTHER! THIS IS DIVISION 1 FOOTBALL!

Pitt @ Notre Dame. The Stache v the Fupa! Could this one GET any better? If Notre Dame wins this one, I think they will punch the Fighting Irish ticket for the Fiesta Bowl to face Boise State/Utah and NO ONE will watch! Notre Dame wins this one though at home. Sorry Stache.

UK @ Miss State. Wow, two schools that went to bowls last year and semi-big things were expected of them this year. While Rich Brooks will probably step aside at UK for Joker Phillips, Miss State will keep Sly Croom employed, because, well, you know. We can't fire him. Mississippi State Football:We Settle for mediocrity! Miss State at home.

#14 Mizzou @ Baylor. I bet Chase Daniel is REALLY confused now. ESPN's Gameday hasn't called him to do something for the show in like THREE WEEKS! But I thought Mizzou was the best two loss team in the country.....wait.....They win here though.

Iowa State @ #9 Okie State. Hey Will Muschamp, think REALLY HARD about which job you jump to this year. Gene Chzik is an example of what happens when a smart minded DC from Texas jumps to a bad situation. Be smart here Muschamp. Okie State wins this one for the 41 year old Gundy

#24 Oregon @ Cali. I wonder if it is hard to go on the road in the Pac 10? I mean going TO Berkley, that might actually be tough. you have to avoid all of the protesters on the way to the stadium.....I think The Fighting Sandys make life DIFFICULT for the Ducks and Cali takes it. MILD UPSET? Nope, just a typical weekend of WACKY PAC 10 FOOTBALL!

Klimpsen @ BC. So Dabo gets his second crack at this coaching thing. I wonder if the Klimpsen AD will be strolling along the sidelines at this game? CJ Spiller is back and I think Cullen Harper decided that his "surgery" could be done while he could still play and The Mouth of the South is BACK. BC isn't very good, but I said that I wouldn't pick Klimpsen for three years. BC to win.

Duke @ Wake. I laughed when I saw that Duke beat Vandy last week to prevent Vandy from getting bowl eligible. COuld Vandy actually not make a bowl after starting the year 5-0? Could happen. Duke meanwhile needs only two more wins. Will one come here? NO. Wake Forest (in the smallest BCS conference stadium in the land) will crush the bookworms.

Iowa @ Illinois. BIG 11 FOOTBALL! GET IN TO IT! I heard that Juice Williams was contemplating going pro after this year, but that he might be getting distracted from playing because he is worried about going pro. Yeah because I am sure NFL Scouts are DROOLING over this guy. Because spread QBs that have never not really stepped up against crap competition are REALLY in high demand in the pros......Illi wins this one though.

U-Dub @ #5 USC. Now that TyWill has "resigned" all of the pressure will be off of the Huskies and they can play hard against USC......that theory holds as much water as shotgunned beer. The men of Troy continue its march through the horrible Pac 10. Second best conference? My butt.

#1 Texas @ #7 Texas Tech. As a UGA fan, I NEED The Red Raidahs to beat the Longhorns. But first I need UGA to pull off a miracle and beat Florida. One thing at a time. If I start watching this game in a good mood, (that would mean UGA beat Florida) then I REALLY won't care who wins this one. But like Texas isn't going to win. Come on................

Nebraska @ #4 OU. Remember in 2000-01 when this game was between #1 and #2? Yeah, how the "mighty" have fallen. Nebraska might have been able to pull the upset at home, but not on the road. Sorry Children of the corn.

Pro ranks
ATL @ Oakland. A 4pm EC start and no Sam Baker and DHall wanting revenge......Come on, it is still Oakland. I think Ryan and Roddy White just kill DHall, as Tim McGraw and Nelly would say, "Over and Over again." I had chalked this one up for the Birds BEFORE Matt Ryan decided to win rookie of the year....

Poo Poo Platter specials...
Lock of the week
Arkie State @ #2 Bama. Really Tide? You guys REALLY think you should be facing these guys THIS LATE IN THE YEAR! (wait, LSU is playing Tulane. Nevermind) I know UL-M upset you guys last year in a game like this, but Bama is a TAD better this year than last. Tide ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Upset pick
Tennessee @ SoCar. Fulmer going into Spurrier's Cockfighting arena. You know Spurrier would LOVE to be the one to drive the final nail into Fulmer's coffin. BUT I THINK FULMER fights back and UPSETS the evil genius. Eric Berry leads the way to the win.

Local rooting interest the state of GA v the state of FL
#15 FSU @ GT. So some GT fans are rooting for Jaybo Shaw to play over Josh Nesbitt this weekend against FSU? Huh? So you want the LESS Athletic QB going against the best D you will have seen to date? OK, sure, THAT MAKES SENSE. GT's running game will look good, but I want to go ahead and say that FSU IS NEARLY BACK! I will be rooting for a GT win, but I think The Noles take them.

# 8 Florida v #6 UGA in Jax. Ladies and Gents, the world's largest outdoor cocktail party, outside of Mardi Gras! Whereas last week I felt the game was a tossup that favored UGA, I think this week is a tossup that favors Florida. They are fast fast fast, and while I think their D is still suspect, when you score 50+, the defense doesn't matter. If this is a low scoring game, I think UGA wins, if it is a 48-45 game, I think Florida wins. Run Knowshon and keep Tebow on the side of the field...unless the Code Red is going to work for you. Red pants AND red tops? I thought UGA learned its lesson about the unis in the Bama game. But hey, ya never know. Come on Dawgs, let's get after them!

A look at Georgia High School football 10/30/08

Our weekly look at the last week and this week of Georgia high school football. Oh course we start at the top with Classification 5A, and Lowndes (one of the top ranked teams in the country) put it on Houston County (pronounced HOW-stan County) 52-14. Gerald Demps, a future FSU Seminole rushed for two scores and that should be interesting to watch that intrastate matchup every year between his Seminoles and Reid's Florida Gators. Meanwhile Camden Co smoked Jenkins 70-0, the second straight week the team has notched at least 70 points. We get it: you guys are good and your region sucks. you can stop now. Newnan continues to make Paul Mac look like a Mensa member as Russell Powell had 180 total yards from the QB spot and Keandreas Wynn found paydirt twice. Grayson clinched the Region 8-AAAAA title, ending Brookwood's streak at three and did it WITHOUT a huge effort from Ean Pemberton. Wow. This team is loaded but could get screwed by having to face either Norcross (what an offense!) or Peachtree Ridge (what a defense!) in the first round of the state playoffs. COME ON GHSA! All N-WR did was crush Tift County a potential playoff team in Region 1-AAAAA. Xavier Bacon is running hard from Alaska and Joe Scott is a game-managing QB. He will NOT lose a game for the Eagles this year.
The biggest news is that Cobb County will be without a state champ YET AGAIN. Walton lost to Lassiter (not an upset IMO) and Harrison fell to McEachern as the Hoyas didn't have Godhigh going. (gee, where did I read about Harrison struggling with no Godhigh...?) Otherwise, Brookwood eeked out a win over Dacula to hold on to the number 2 spot in region 8 and Norcross blanked Duluth-SHOCKER, wait.... Congrats to South Gwinnett. Make a run at that last playoff spot you Comets you!

In Class AAAA, Westside Macon continues to look VERY IMPRESSIVE. I hear from the kids at Score ATL that they may be unbeatable in the state playoffs. I have watched Tucker and they seem like the Florida Gators, but maybe they cannot take down WS-M. We shall see come playoff time. Sandy Creek continues to make me play the "what if game." Hey MEMO TO BRAXTON LANE: this would be the coolest thing EVER if you came back for the playoffs and Rio Johnson had a big-time target for the run to the state title. It would be like if Roger Clemens had EVER ACTUALLY HELPED a team when he came in for part of a season, you know instead of just stealing money. CHEATER! (Wait, I sound like an ASU fan! D'oh!) Dalton continues to break my heart as Stryker Brown and co led Rome 23-13 at the half before falling 41-23. Thanks Catamounts. I get my hopes UP and you DASH THEM! TC-C keeps winning ugly. They are the Ohio State of Class AAAA. They do JUST ENOUGH to get by and look at the end of the year, there they are! They do have a tough Defense though (4 INTS last week) and Shawn Bryant can get it done, but I just think there are at LEAST 8 teams better. Including Tucker! As for Evans, I will still not talk about you. i agree with your DE Nagy, "You guys are the worst 8-0 team in the state!"

For a Look at the AAA Classification, let's go to GPB's Fletcher Proctor
With so many big games on the slate for next week it was only natural that a team was looking ahead and forgot about this week’s game. The biggest upset victim of Friday night was GPB/ScoreAtl’s No.9 Washington County. The team hit the road to face Burke County and left with a 28-24 loss, despite 129 yards from its standout running back Keith Swint, who also scored two touchdowns. Waco’s opponent next week is Baldwin, who dispatched Liberty County 35-0. Jerrico Ford had two touchdowns in the game and the defense looked strong in the shutout win. Cole Moon of St. Pius X carried the ball 20 times for 174 yards in the Golden Lions 28-7 win over Grady. This is the second time in school history the team has started 8-0. The No.1 Cairo Syrupmakers glided to a 42-10 win thanks to Reggie Bryant’s 3 scores and QB Angelo Pease’s two touchdown passes. Carrollton needed overtime to knock off Central Carrollton 21-14 and LaGrange stomped Columbs 46-7, thanks to Ocie Salters three TD scampers. Finally Treavor Scales had four scores and 258 yards rushing as the No. 5 Dunwoody Wildcats crushed McNair 34-13.
And for a look at this week's games, let's go back to the GPB's Fletcher Proctor
Could a one loss team leapfrog the GPB/Score Atlanta No.1 in next week’s rankings? We may know this Thursday night as No.2 LaGrange faces defending AAA state champion and current No.8 Carver-Columbus in Region 2-AAA play. Carver-Columbus is looking to avoid its third loss of the season while the Grangers have an eye on Cairo’s top spot. The Syrupmakers meanwhile looked impressive last week, dispatching Perry behind Reggie Bryant’s three scores. QB Angelo Pease will look to help his running back this week against Crisp County. In a matchup between Region 3-AAA foes, Washington County will look to rebound after a loss last week when No.3 Baldwin visits. The Braves meanwhile keep rolling, last week crushing Liberty County 35-0, and the defense has only allowed one touchdown in the last six games. In other games Gainesville is at Johnson-Savannah and Dunwoody faces Druid Hills at Adams Stadium.

Heading on to AA, Blessed Trinity, don't second-guess yourselves. You could have kicked a field goal to go up 7 points with under 5 to play, but you said, "If we can't gain a yard (inside the 5 yard line) we don't deserve to win!" Well you couldn't and you didn't. I don't blame you guys for trying. Cody Getz is zonetastic and all this nearmiss did was wake up Buford for the rest of the playoffs. Because of this, Henry Co and Dublin won't win. They needed to be able to sneak up, but now, NO ONE is sneaking up on them. They are USC up there. #2 and #3 Fitzgerald and Appling both lost last week, so Pepperell is the new #2. They have a great RB whose name eludes me right now, but he can get it done. As for Westminster, you get Buford at home this week. Good luck to Ross Conway and Co. Finally, Drew Little and Co had a big Comefrombehind win over NE Macon. And Rashard Smith had a TD toss in Dublin's win. Playmakers from the QB spot. The only chance Buford has of losing. Just saying.

In Class A, the RBs were at it again. Wayshaun had 218 and 2TDs as ECI rolled. Antonio Marshall scored Thrice as Wilcox cruised. Kyle Karempelis of Athens Academy had 1TD, but his team lost. Class A is a three team race with ECI, Wilcox and Clinch. But come on. ECI is going to win this one. Two UGA recruits and a GT recruit. Donezo.

Tune in for the final VW HSH5 of the year this Saturday from 9-10 am. Cutbacks at the station. What can I say.....

Let the merry-go-round begin!

Usually colleges wait until the end of the year before giving struggling football coaches the hook, but not this season. Nope. 2008 has already seen Tommy Bowden "resign" from Klimpsen and Ty Willingham also decide to "step down" at the end of the year from the U-Dub gig.

How about Auburn? For some reason Awbarn fans are wanting to ride the best coach the Tigers/War Eagles/Plainsmen have had since Dye out of town for one bad season. Has Awbarn slipped? Yes, a bit. Have the Tigers disappointed after they were pegged a preseason top 10? yes, but remember the last time that happened? 2004 they went undefeated. But, HEY, as a UGA fan, I would love NOTHING more than for a big rival to lose a quality coach. So I welcome this.

Then over on Rocky Top, fans want the Great Pumpkin to leave the Pumpkin patch immediately. This is strange because he is coming off a CO-division championship and a near upset in the SECCG of eventual BCS champ LSU and a subsequent contract extension. They do look turrbull though and he just doesn't seem to have the same mojo without David Cutcliff that he does with him.

How about West Va and Michigan? Well you KNOW RichRod isn't going anywhere (according to John from Downtown Atlanta on ScoreATL's Sunday scoreboard show, this is a rebuilding year and I am a moron for not knowing that. Ummm Mark Richt didn't lose to Toledo in his rebuilding year at UGA...a year he won 8 regular season games and went to a bowl FOR THE RECORD.) It also appears that West Va might be happy with Stewart after freaking out earlier because they realized they NEVER should have given him that gig.

Finally, I am hoping Da Cuse FINALLY make a move and stop talking about it. PLEASE. I am SICK of this. Either DO IT, or SHUT UP ABOUT IT. (I also will not bother with the South Carolina talk or the UVa talk since Spurrier is sticking around at least one more year IMO-he wants to see if Garcia is the man; and UVa is sitting atop the Coastal Division standings right now. This is just one year after Al Groh won ACC Coach of the year. Sorry to my stepdad, but Groh will not go.)

So now we get to my thoughts on the matter of their replacements. As far as Klimpsen goes, if I were the Tigers, I would wait until The OTHER Tigers fire Tuberville, then go after him. CTT knows what it is like to live in a cow town, so the small, football crazed town of Klimpsen wouldn't come as a shock. Also Tuberville would OWN the ACC. If we break down Coaches of the conference, he outcoaches Randy Shannon at Mia, he is better than Jimbo Fisher/shell of Bobby Bowden, has better players than Paul Johnson at GT, better players than NCState and Duke and Wake, better coach than UVA and BC. The only coaches he has problems against: Beamer and Butch Davis. But Tuberville would have the Tigers in the ACCCG every three years, if not every other year. Yeppers. Klimpsen would be smart to wait and pursue this fish MORESO than Bobby Johnson at Vandy. I don't think Johnson is leaving; why would he want to? He is in too good of a situation at Vandy in terms of security and lifestyle. Let's see......Nashville or Klimpsen? No stress or hyperstressed? This is another one though: If Johnson wants to leave Vandy, I'd be OK with that as a UGA fan.

U-Dub, if they haven't already gotten Lane Kiffin signed, then I say that the Prez goes after Will Muschamp, DC from Texas. Apparently the Prez was at LSU when Saban (And Muschamp) roamed the sidelines on the Bayou. I heard where Pat Hill's name was being mentioned, but why? Why would U-Dub want to bring in the Fresno State Coach? Because he sometimes knocks off a crappy BCS conference team? Because the FSU bulldog baseball team beat UGA in the CWS? Go get Muschamp, but be warned: as intense as the guy is, Matt Stafford torched him as a true frosh and again as a sophomore. And Sam Bradford certainly toasted his vaunted D. I know people are sort of overlooking this because the Texas O is doing so well and everyone is chalking it up to "The Amazing Big 12 offenses!" Ummm Texas has some FINE athletes on D and they gave up 5 TDs to Bradford? Last time I checked, all the Pac 10 DOES is pass. U-Dub had better watch out for that one. But I think Muschamp is the best option, unless Lane Kiffin (who left USC to get paid from The Raiders?) is already signed. Yeah, wouldn't Mike Leach look good up there though? That offense would scare the pants off of USC. I might like to see that!

Auburn. Here is where Muschamp's name will be brought up again, same with Kiffin's name. Not sure why on Kiffin, but people keep saying his name here. He is a west coast guy. You REALLY think he wants to come to Awbarn? Ummmm, doubt it. The Tiger people may run off Tuberville then realize no one wants this gig. That would be funny if you ask me. Honestly! They would have to go to the midmajors and beg someone to take this gig. I would think that Brian Kelly of Cincy (not a mid-major, but it might as well be) turns it down because he wants the Vols gig. I think they might give Utah a call and see if Kyle Whittingham (did I spell that correctly?) wants it. Auburn said they wanted a spread offense, and this Urban Meyer clone might be just what they are looking for. IF he takes it.

Tennessee. Here is where I might say Brian Kelly of Cincy, but the hot story is Jon Gruden of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Apparently he started his career coaching with the Vols and BOY WOULD THAT be a splash. The only thing is, I don't think Gruden would be able to recruit and keep 10 QBs on his 85 man roster. Walk-ons maybe, but you can't tie up all of those scholarships. No, what probably happens here is the team goes out and tries to get David Cutcliff back from Duke. And he would come back. It is just kind of weird that the school would want a guy that has been such an enhhhh head coach, both at Ole Miss and now at Duke.

Da Cuse. Kiffin's name comes up here, (because it is coming up everywhere) but I wonder why not get Jim Fassel, the old NY Giants coach. He has some New York ties and he knows what the NY Press would be like. Greg Robinson is just moping around up there and you know that Fassel would never stand to be what his team is right now. He'd probably pop off and get himself fired opposed to being what Robinson is now.

And PS, if West Va does struggle too much, I would think that Tommy Bowden, a WVU Alum might get a call. Does that make Stewart uncomfortable that TB is making a visit "to tailgate" up there this weekend? It would if I was Stewart. Just saying.

And hey John from Downtown and the rest of you Michigan fans: WE KNOW IT IS A REBUILDING YEAR, but losing to Toledo should never happen from one of the winningest programs EVER! Paul Johnson at GT is putting in a new system, but he isn't failing miserably like RichRod is. Admit it: the guy is slime and if you could do it over, you wouldn't have made the hire. You would have shopped around a little more. Admit it! Do it. Wait.....ADMIT IT! Thank you.

Otherwise I think the rest of the coaching world sticks around. Pete Carroll is staying put, 49ers be darned. (now if they had drafted Leinart...) Kirk Frentz at Iowa gets to stay (because who wants to go to Iowa? The land of farmer's daughters..) JoePa stays and so does BBowden. Petrino tries to leave Arkie, but no one will have him. Krapthorpe sticks at Louisville because "he is building something." Maybe Rich Brooks leaves UK, but then Joker Phillips is there. And for WHATEVER REASON Sly Croom is not allowed to be fired from Miss State. If Bobby Johnson leaves Vandy, then perhaps Vandy folds its program.

She expels the only decent human being on the show

I know I normally give you a Mid-week entertainment report, but I don't care about the Obama infomercial tonight and the World Series is boring. I just have one topic on my mind and that is Paris Hilton's search for a best bud. And last night's episode was one that left me scratching my head....
I did like that Ziu left, but the manner in which she left was a bit of a letdown. She was clearly not going to win, but I wanted Paris to be the one to tell her to kick rocks. Instead she lets Corrie do it and Zui says something like, "Yeah but Paris didn't eliminate me, so we'll never know." Ummmm yes we will. Hey Minnie Mouse wannabe-YOU WEREN'T GOING TO WIN. Too bad you couldn't have just left with Mike Onch last week.

But my real beef is with Paris TTYNing Natasha. I know she had a bad attitude, but she had the best mindset of any of the girls. A best friend isn't a junior clone suckup. It is someone that can bring something to the bff relationship. Not just a sidekick, but an actual friend. Natasha seemed to be heckbent on being a real friend and not just a little suckerfish that the rest are going to be. I was a little sad to see Natasha go and folks like Kayle stay. She tickled Simon Rex's (aka Dirt Nasty) bum with a feather....and she is just a big weirdo. She looks like Audrey from DCreek...only dirtier and fatter. Just not sure why she is still there....I would think she is CLEARLY the next to go.

Who do I think is going to win? Not the virgin, not Audrey's fat twin. I think Kiki might stand a good chance since she knows everything about Paris (swimfan85 anyone?) or maybe Britney or Corrie. I just hope that one chick that cries over EVERYTHING doesn't win. I forget her name, but I am NOT a fan. If I had to put money on someone right now, I'd say Kiki because it just seems like most of the celebreality folks like for people to worship them and Kiki seemed to know everything about Paris. The dinner prolly helped the cause a bit. I would have said Britney after the Tokoyo trip, but she seemed to bore Paris last night. Oh well.
It isn't great TV, but I'd rather watch that than the World Series or an Obama commercial...........

Don't Worry Pacey, you aren't missing much

Normally Sportsbyfletch likes to talk about Monday's episode of The Hills on a Tuesday morning. Enh, last night's episode was enh. The JustinBobby/Audrina storyline is tired. Cam needs to go from ShePratt's life since he was going to tell Brody, "I hate you" but then he did his best Marcel Marso when BJ showed up. Whatever. Nothing of real importance last night. Maybe all of the good writers have already left to go do The City.....wait. I mean that's a reality show too right? with no writers.....

But instead today I want to talk about the first six episodes of Dawson's Creek Season 6, aka the final season. We return from the Season 5 "cliffhanger" to find that Joey really didn't go to France. Good thinkin' Lincoln! But she did have a bit of a fling with a dude in Capeside, but she was angry to discover that Dawson had a girlfriend-that he broke up with the morning after.

The morning after what, you ask...the morning after they finally did it. THANKFULLY. That was getting almost as tired a storyline as Audrina/JustinBobby. (In fact, I told Wifey that JustinBobby was Audrina's "Dawson." Corey would have been her Aussie Jack maybe?) Then when Dawson goes and breaks up with his girl Natasha to be with Joey, Joey Doucher er I mean Potter blows up at him and I am not sure why. To Sabotage her own happiness perhaps? Or maybe it was karma getting her back for the whole, "Well I am a sophomore, but so much more. You'll see!" speech to her teacher.

On that note, I am glad the teacher made a big stink out of embarrassing her any chance he got. I would have too after that comment.

As far as sending out an email to the entire campus. Several flaws with this...number one, why would you put "campuswide@worthington.edu" in your mailbox? You sending out a bunch of campus wide emails? I don't think I ever did that at UGA. Just saying. Number two, if you are a typical sophomore, your classes are still HUGE. NO ONE KNOWS YOU! Your English class did, but that is because you were a dick to the prof and he wanted to embarrass you a little more. YOUR FAULT.

If we could move to Dawson for just a second (don't worry we will come back to Joey and her exploits with Eddie), I love how you broke up with Natasha over a voice mail, then, after Joey dumps you in front of her, you go back to her all "oh I was wrong. I am so sorry! Let's get back together! Best sex I ever had!" Ummm I am not certain you were so sorry when you were tagging Joey three times in less than 18 hours. Just kind of strange how you were totally ready to drop Natasha, but now you are all about her, you know, now that Joey has said you don't have a future together. Interesting. And hey, isn't Dawson just a little rabbit when it comes to sex? He wanted it all the time with Jen, then apparently with Natasha it was the best sex ever and now with Joey he did it 3 times in 18 hours. And when episode 6 ends, he is about to get it ON with Natasha again. Hmmmm. A Rabbit!

Back to Joey and Eddie. Eddie is quite handsome with Nicky Fisk hair and nice bone structure (hey he IS Kate Hudson's brother after all), but Joey just goes and makes out with him because she is angry at DCreek? It IS a syndrome. For being a prude, she is certainly willing to jump into a relationship with PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING WITH AN ability to pee standing up. Pacey, Jack, the professor, Ethan, Eddie...wow. Bad girl. JUST SAYING. How much does she know about this Eddie guy really? And she goes off using her doe-eyes and pouty lips as a weapon. I guess Jen and Audrey rubbed off on her.

Hey Audrey....why are you falling victim to the whole "everything in life was handed to me as the daughter of a rich guy, so I will screw it up and blow a chance that countless people would kill for" disease? Is she the character that Marissa Cooper was based on? I think so. This chick pisses me off. you know what, I am GLAD that Pacey talked to that Emma England girl while Audrey was in the coffin and said he never loved her. Yeah Audrey, you WERE just there for Pacey to get it on with. And he should have left her for the Cougar that was his boss at the restaurant. Just putting that out there. And what was that singing? Huh?

Pacey, you didn't do anything wrong when you WERE studying then the guys from your office wanted to go out. You TOLD Audrey you'd see her the next day. And she was going to a party anyways. She was going to have fun. You aren't allowed? (Not that going to a strip club is my idea of fun, but I am in Camp Pacey!)

Finally we come to Jen and her "man" CJ. Said that Jen "isn't his type" Really? you mean whoreish and bipolar isn't your type? WOW. Right now I am just counting down until Jen gets knocked up and dies at the end of this series. (sorry to spoil that if you are living DCreek through me for the first time. But I think I remember that is how it ends). Jen is just REALLY annoying to me for whatever reason. I am rooting against her happiness ever since she got mad at Joey for kissing Charlie after she de-flowered Dawson. I also wasn't a big fan of her hair several seasons ago. Just a big old d-bag.

Oh one last thing. The Halloween episode was the final one on Disc one from Netflix and you see Dawson and Natasha about to get it on in the bed when the "Boston Strangler" character (who uses an ax to strangle you?) comes out of the closet and is raising his ax and then the credits come up. IS that really going to happen. I would NOT be upset if DCreek was "voted off the island" and then if the guy then went after Jen and Audrey. Just clean up the show a bit. I would NOT be upset if this show ended with a cast of Pacey, Joey, Eddie, Jack, Todd, Grams, and perhaps the RETURN OF CHARLIE! Oh and bring back Jennifer Morrison too while we are at it please.

Falcons got screwed by the RULES? Come on now.

I understand Falcons fans' frustrations about what happened yesterday. Well not really, but today a LOT of Falcons fans that are Flyin' with Ryan were disappointed yesterday that Matty Ice never got a chance to stage his second straight comeback. Late in the fourth quarter the Eagles led the Dirty Birds 20-14 after Matt Ryan had led the team down for a TD a few plays earlier. (I guess all of the Falcons fans are forgetting that Matty Ice had thrown two Picks, including one in the endzone...) The Eagles ran on first down-no time out. The eagles ran on second down-time out, the Falcons' second. The eagles passed on third down, but came up short-time out, the Falcon's final time out with 2:31 left in the game.

The Eagles punter, who according to Dave "Arch" Archer couldn't kick it out of his shadow, punts a ball from his own 26 to the Falcons' side of the field where Adam Jennings doesn't catch it, instead opts to let it bounce...but AJ doesn't get away from the ball. Instead he is close enough that one of the officials thinks that AJ touched/muffed the punt and the Eagles recover. Because the Falcons don't have a timeout, they cannot challenge and since it isn't within the last two minutes, the replay booth cannot touch the blown call. Replays show that Jennings didn't touch it, but because of the timeout rules, the play cannot be challenged.

The Eagles would go on to post a garbage TD to ice the game and the Falcons lost 27-14, but many Atlantans believe that the Falcons got screwed.

How though. The NFL rules are the rules. The Falcons could have challenged if they had had a time out, but because the team had used one earlier in the half on a third down play, they didn't have the time out to use. In college every play is challengeable by the booth, but that isn't the case in the NFL. Now will the rules change? Probably. Did the Falcons get screwed.....maybe by crappy rules, but the rules were followed. Did the Refs cost Atlanta the game, maybe, but who is to say that the Rookie would have led them down the field and actually gotten the TD? He had two INTs and didn't have his left tackle in the game.

Matty Ice's turnover in the endzone earlier in the game didn't help. Michael Turner's poopoo game didn't help matters either. He has piled up some HUGE numbers against crappy teams, but against the big boys, suddenly THE BURNER's pilot light has flickered out.

Bottom line, it would have been fun watching Matt Ryan with a chance to win the game, but we wouldn't have known FOR SURE he could have gone against the Eagles' defense for the score. Does the NFL replay system need changing? Maybe. I think the college edition is better, but then again I am a bigger college fan than I am pro fan, so maybe I am biased. The rules were followed to the letter of the law yesterday and the Falcons just need to move on. They go to Oakland this Sunday and they cannot let the loss to the Eagles stick with them, otherwise the RAIDERS will beat them. And you can't let that cancer D'Hall have that over you. You just can't.

PS, if Adam Jennings had caught the ball, there wouldn't be any question about a muff or not. OR if he WASN'T going to catch it, GET THE F AWAY FROM THE BALL! Some of that has to fall on AJ for being an idiot.

I'm Mark Richt and I approve this message

Sportsbyfletch's reaction to the LSU game....

Anytime you can go on the road in the SEC and come out with a win is a good Saturday. The team played 4 quarters of football against a talented LSU team. Credit the Georgia coaches for coming up with a good game plan.

I am sure the team is looking forward to this week. Florida is a talented team and Georgia is no doubt excited about the opportunity. They're just looking to go 1-0 this week.

Tressel's master plan unfolding and Richt on the road

It is playing out just like Sweatervest wanted it to. He knew his team wasn't good enough to beat USC, so he purposely sat Beanie Wells and didn't play Pryor so at the end of the season, after duh Ohio State wins out, Sweatervest can say, "We were an entirely different team at the beginning of the year. That was without Pryor and without Wells!" The "experts" might start bobbing their heads and the Fighting Herbies could be put back into the BCSCG....where they will lose again. Credit Tressel though. He thought this thing through. At some point though, can SOMEONE from the Big 11 PLEASE beat duh Ohio State, so they will go away? Maybe Penn State... And just so we all know. Columbia,SC-check; Neyland-check; Vandy-check; Lexington-check; Auburn-check; Bama-check; Starkville-check, Oxford-check, Fayetteville-check, Sanford-check; JAX-check; LSU-.... Richt has won in every stadium in the SEC he's played in except the Swamp (the teams play in J-Ville, duh) and he HASN'T won in Tiger Stadium. Could that change this weekend? ON TO THE PICKS!

#8 Texas Tech @ #23 KU. Now Texas Tech doesn't have a defense, but they have a Kicker Idol winner now attempting placekicking duty for THE RED RAIDAHS!! KU showed last week that they can put up points, but they can't stop anyone either and TTU has more firepower. (PS, I also LOVE that the BCS recognized that TTU hasn't played/beaten CRAP yet this season so they got no love and came in AFTER UGA in the first poll. Serves you right Leach for scheduling Texas Ballet Academy for an opponent!) The Raidahs win this one though.

#22 Northwestern @ Indiana. I've heard from my Indiana source that the Hoosiers SUCK! (That's Mark, I could have looked at their record and seen that!) Go with the Baying Darwins ON THE ROAD in the TOUGH TOUGH BIG 11!

#24 Minnesota @ Purdue. And at 9:44 I realized that there are more Big 11 schools ranked in the top 25 than SEC Schools. A down year for the SEC? Hmmmm. Don't know about that, but maybe just top-heavy. But please Drew aka Kill Joy, don't try and preach to me that the Big 11 is a better football conference. I shot you down at Poon's pool party and you should not speak for a while. Maybe when college hockey season starts......Minny Mouse wins this one.

BC @ UNC. UNC's coach Butch Davis played a gutless brand of football in the second half v UVA last week. I called the upset in that one BTW. Right YET AGAIN. The real thing here though is UNC is STILL WITHOUT Yates and Tate is donezo for the year. Even though BC lost Toal, I still think BC has the edge in this one. Sorry Tar Heel blue!

Illinois @ Wisco. Wisco has lost four? in a row now. Enter Ron Zook. Don't worry Badger fans, he is a LOCK to end every losing streak. Oh, and LOOK OUT MADISON, Pam Ward is in town for this game! Suddenly the Badger women's field hockey team just got REALLY Excited! Badgers BURROW to a win!

Wake @ Miami. So Miami beat Duke. Ahhhh, I was wrong. Oh well. I was thinking that for one week, EVERY GAME I pick, I should go with the opposite of who I think is going to win. Let's try it. Miami looked good last week and Wake got waxed by MARYLAND, who got WAXED by UVA who got WAXED by Duke, who lost to Miami...SO I am going with WAKE. Let's see if this logic works.

#4 OU @ K-State. This game is going to start at 11:30 local time in Kansas. Yeouch. But I guess when you are in Manhattan, aka the city that never sleeps you can start tailgating tonight....wait, it is not as in New York? Oh. Oops. Go with OU based on TALENT ALONE. and coaching. and scheme. and band. and mascot.....

UK @ #10 Florida. Oooooooooooooooo I hear Emmanuel Moody is finally healthy and ready to go. He still hasn't answered my question of, if he was so good, why did he need to transfer out of USC? Listen, I love that UK traditional loses to Florida, but in the process softens them up. I know Florida will win, all I am asking is that UK's (much improved) defense just hit Tebow enough that he struggles next week. Please.

Duke @ Vandy. OK, the Dores FINALLY get bowl eligible with a win here. And you KNOW Bobby Johnson is LOVING life right now. He can leverage Klimpsen to get more money out of Vandy. I wouldn't want to go to Klimpse if I currently lived in Nashville. Sorry. Even though I HATE country music, Nashville is MUCH better than Klimpsen. Though he would probably have more success in Klimpsen in terms of winning something meaningful, but hey...what are ya gonna do. Plus Cutcliff has probably already started packing up his office for yet another move back to Knoxville. Dores win.

#6 Okie State @ #1 Texas. Oh, THIS is supposed to be the game that the Horns struggle in right experts? Okie State's defense is surprisingly good, right? Ummmm, it looks pretty much JUST like the defense they had last season when UGA knocked them out betwixt the hedges. Just saying..............Longhorns over Zac Robinson and the Pokes.

#16 So Fla @ Louisville. Hmmmmmmmm So the Gro-hawk wasn't magic enough to take down Wanny and the Pitt Panthers. Good thing he is playing Steve Crap-thorp and the Lou-a-vul Cards. The real question is, will Papa John's take their name off the losing product that is Lou-a-vul? Better Ingredient, Better Pizza, Crappy Football, Papa Johns! So Fla is just SO SO SO FLA and they win!

Rutgers @ #17 Pitt. If AJ hadn't been kilt off in the finale of the Sopranos, he'd be a starting Junior DE at Rutgers, if my math is correct. And you KNOW Tony would be betting these game and Wanny seems like the type of guy that would get in 6 boxes of Ziti deep to the mafia, so the SMART money would be on Rutgers. But AJ was likely kilt by the man in the trenchcoat. Go with the Mustachioed Wanny and the Pitt Panthers!

VaTech @ #25 FSU. VaTech has looked turrbul in their loses, and not much better in their wins. FSU, are they back? Well Jimbo Fisher seems to have something cooking again there. This game in Doak won't exactly be reminiscent of the 1999-00 Sugar Bowl (wow, i looked back at FSU's roster for that game, 14 NFL players...wow) but the result will be similar. Seminoles ROLL!

UCLA @ Cali. FOLKS! GET SWEPT UP IN PAC 10 FOOTBALL! The fourth best conference in AMERICA! But hey, you've got the ACC beat. Fighting Sandys win.

NCSU @ Maryland. The Terps should take this one, but then they SHOULD have taken down the Wahoos. NCState is just really bad. I wonder if O'Brien regrets leaving BC. Ummmmm prolly! But he is still WAY better for that school than Amato. I wonder who would win if Amato armwrestled Ed Orgeron? Coach O maybe? I dunno. It would be more exciting than this game.

Colorado @ #15 Mizzou. Did I really read that correctly from the Columbia paper? Mizzou is claiming they are the best two loss team in the country? Stop it guys! And PS, I wonder how Gameday will include Chase Daniel (not Daniels, Pollack!) in this week's show? Will be be mic'ed up again? "Hey guys, we can STILL MAKE the Holiday Bowl! Let's do it on three!" Or do you think Chase is calling up ESPN and they are ignoring his call and his messages are something like this: "Hey guys, I noticed you haven't sent the mic pack for me to wear this week. That's ok, I can just record myself on a tape player and send it to you....guys? Hello? The best 2 loss team wins AGAIN!

#2 Bama @ Tennessee. Wait is THIS the game that Fulmer is actually going to decide to show up for? Do we think that if Bama gets up 31-0 in Neyland, the AD will stop Fulmer on the way to the locker room and tell him to just leave the stadium? But wait, this is "a RI-VAL-RY," according to a member of 790 The ZOne's afternoon saloon, so you can throw out the rankings and records! Really? when Tennasty is THIS BAD, you can? I don't think so. Fulmer and Clawson are gone with Chavis serving as interim the rest of the year before Cutcliff returns. Bama breaks Tennessee.

#3 Penn State @ #9 Duh Ohio State. If you read the intro, you would KNOW that I am picking the Buckeyes, not because I want them to win, but because this is all part of Sweatervests plan. CRAP! This is good for UGA though. One ahead of them loses, they move up...assuming they win.

Notre Dame @ U-Dub. WHy has Ty Willingham NOT been fired yet? What is Syracuse waiting for with Greg Robinson? Klimpsen already fired Bowden. You CAN fire people midseason. it IS allowed. I remember when this was a big deal. Not anymore. Weis hopefully puts TW our of his misery with a thrashing, and in doing so puts a 5-2 Notre Dame into the Fiesta Bowl!

Oregon @ Arizona State and #5 USC @ Zona. It is going to be a bad day for the state of Arizona. First off, Oregon is going to beat the Sun Devils (and I will continue to laugh at those who-ahes in the t-shirt dresses who thought they had a shot against UGA), and to Zona coach Mike Stoops:SLOW DOWN BRO! Maybe you should just qualify for ANY bowl before you start talking about a Rose Bowl appearance. You've NEVER as a head coach been to even the Emerald Nuts Bowl. Maybe you should just worry about 6 wins before you talk about knocking off USC and appearing in the Rose Bowl. The LAST thing you should do is awaken a sleeping giant.

Pro-liferation!
Atlanta @ Philly. Hey, great that The Falcons are Flyin' with Ryan and the team has a winning record entering the off-week...but let's not kid ourselves. As bad as Philly seems, they are still LIGHTYEARS better than the Falcons. Sorry Body. Sorry IJ. But they are. The 4-2 start might go to 5-3, but 6 wins might be a max here. Sorry to say, but it is prolly true. But hey. enjoy the next few days.

Washington @ Detroit. Well, the Skins should have beaten the FLIPPIN' Rams, but didn't. They SHOULD be the Lions, but who knows. The Lions lost Roy Williams and have a QB that attended UCONN for his advanced learning, so the Skins have that going for them. But they might look against to the Steelers and this game IN THE D just kind of scares me. COME ON SKINS. Do it for my cousin Ross!

Blue Light Specials...
Lock of the Week
Ole Miss @ Arkie. Arkie has beaten Ole Miss the last 4 years I think I saw? Yeah, but that was win D-Mac, Felix Jones, Matt Jones and Company....and Houston NUTT! Nutt of course now coaches Ole Miss and has Jevan Sneed on his team. Arkie has Casey Dick and Bobby Petrino. The Racists beat the pigs. Oink this! And Houston Nutt might finish the game by middle fingering the ENTIRE STADIUM!

Upset of the week
Michigan State @ Michigan. Listen, both of these schools suck and while MSU has Javon Ringer, they will still be feeling the ouchies of losing to Ohio State at home. Now they go TO the Big House...RichRod gets his "signature" win of his first year against the In-State Spartans. 300 THIS!

Local rooting interest
UVA @ #18 GT. Daddio made the trip down to Atlanta, not for this game, not for the NASCAR RACE, but to see me. Well, he learned that this game is on ESPNU, a station we don't get. He has been trying to acquire tickets to the game since. I told him that my crew was looking forward to watching the UGA game with him. Not sure that excited him too much. Maybe Hog Wild Dip would excite him! Bottom line on this game, UVA has a third string QB going up against Tech's defense, but Tech's O seems to have hit a snag recently. Yes they've won a bunch in a row, but they only put 10 on the board the last time they played at "Historic Grant Field" and that was against Garnder-Webb. And last week, I don't care what ANYONE says about how Klimpsen was "running on emotion, and what a WIN for GT!" No, you barely beat a team playing WITHOUT CJ SPILLER, playing with the douche Cullen Harper, forced into action after Willy Korn left the game with a real injury, and with some guy named Dabo coaching them. Yeah, Dabo. Tech should have won by 20! But they didn't. They barely won. Now Tech is going to blow out UVA? Come on. Tech may win, but it will be CLOSE.

#7 UGA @ #13 LSU. Before the season I thought UGA had this game. Then after the season started, I was the MOST worried about this game. Then two weeks ago, I thought UGA would win. Now with LSU's entire front 4 and all backups back and ready to go....I don't know. If Stafford gets enough time, he will PICK APART the back 7 of LSU. The key is getting him enough time. And stick with the Knowshon running game. Please. Hey Knowshon, this is where I hope you were saving your N-O-G for. THIS GAME AND NEXT WEEK. Earn that money Knowshon. Earn that Heisman Knowshon. But in the meantime, Stafford will keep carrying this team because the Defense isn't helping him all that much. If Stafford can put up 20 points, UGA wins. if he puts up 17 or fewer, it will be close. Put up 3 TDs Matty Stafford, and get out of there with Richt having won in every SEC Stadium he will ever play in! Do it for Richt!

Will Willingham get another gig?

People want to crow about the facts that, before this season, Charlie Weis was 22-15 after his first three years at Notre Dame while Ty Willingham was 21-15 in his three seasons. (And the Ty-lovahs will quickly point out that Weis was winning with Willingham's players. I also respond, then why couldn't Ty win with them?)

However now it appears that Ty is Donezo at U-Dub while Weis at least has ND back on track to respectability (and probably a BCS bowl even with a 7-5 record). I hate to point out that Notre Dame didn't fire Willingham to bring in Weis. They did it because they wanted to bring in Urban Meyer-and that was a done deal until the assistant's money issues came up. WOW, how different would everything be if Notre Dame had just ponied up? Hmmmm.

But back to my original question: Will Ty get another job after he gets canned at Washington? He was a strange hire at Notre Dame from his never-eye-popping stint at Stanford to his dismissal at ND to his craptastic time at U-Dub. At some point is he going to stop getting head coaching jobs? I realize that maybe he just wasn't the type of coach that did well in the spotlight of Notre Dame. Fine, so he went BACK to the Pac10, site of his "success" at Stanford, but at the better program, he just couldn't get it done there either. He might be a really nice guy, but at some point you just have to admit that he isn't head coach material, right? Kind of like how Mike Shula of Alabama wasn't head coach material, right? Like how Ted Roof wasn't a real head coach. Like how Coach O from Ole Miss wasn't. Same with Carl Torbrush. Mike O'Cain. Chuck Amato. John Bunting. You get the idea.

I just wonder, if Ty was white, would he be employed? Just wondering.....

Season 5 recap of Pacey's Creek

I am sorry I haven't been talking too much about Pacey's creek, but I wanted to save all of my thoughts on this season until I finished the gang's first year at College. I wanted to begin by saying that I was disappointed that the season 4 ended with Dawson and Joey kissing in DCreek's room. Not cool. Just not cool. Had she JUST broken up with Pacey and she is running back to dumb ole Douchebag Dawson? Come on Joey. You've GOT to move on.
But we open and see that Pacey has spent the whole summer bumping uglies with Dr. Cameron from House. Apparently she was in law school before she became a doctor. GO PACEY! I'd pick her over Joey ANY day of the week. Good work my man.
And we learn that Joey's new Roomie Audrey is one of the best characters on the show, along with Pacey. These two seemed destined to be together, and thankfully they do hookup eventually. But back to Joey. Not only does she blow off a young Crispin Glover for a drunk phone call to DCreek, but then she dumps CGlove again later for her TEACHER!? WHAT?
DCreek's dad Mitch Creek ends up dying and Dawson doesn't do a very good job of compartmentalizing. Dude, it is what you have to do. I know it is sad, and it is, but you have to keep going...quit using it as an excuse to ruin your life. You can't let that be a crutch for your life. You can't just walk around and make stupid choices and just blame it on that. You can't. COME ON BRO.
So back to the season, Pacey eventually gets a job as a chef. Interesting. But he is good at it, though the restaurant apparently is closed all the time or gives him days off seemingly ALL THE TIME!
Now we get to Charlie. Chad Michael Murray. Wow. I was smitten and I am a dude. And PS, to Jen, if you guys NEVER had the conversation about being exclusive, then he WAS allowed to date other people. I know he tried to get a three-way going with the chick from 7th Heaven and you, but come on. You seem like the kind of girl that would be up for it, so please get off your horse. Then he goes for Joey before finally leaving to open for a cover band. Hmmmm, but the guy was a semi-romantic when it came to Joey. It just goes to show you, if you are the right type of girl, you can bring out the right type of guy. Joey brought out a romantic guy because she DIDN'T sleep with him within 20 minutes of meeting him. Jen brought out a guy that tried for a three-way because she gave it up. Jen, you can only blame yourself on this one.
Thankfully Joey and Dawson didn't get together, but Dawson DID get with Jen? Huh? I know he wanted her in season 1, but the redux in season 5 gets them together? Interesting. I guess DCreek WAS destined to give up his V-Card to Jen, like he was TRYING to do in the first few episodes. Why did she wait so long? She gave it up to EVERYONE else pretty quick, but why did she make DCreek wait?

But the REAL ISSUE I want to broach is Jen's anger at Joey for just kissing Charlie when Jen went out and SLEPT with Dawson. Wait, so Joey can't kiss Charlie (not sleep with him mind you, just kiss him), but Jen is TOTALLY allowed to deflower Dawson, Joey's soulmate? Jen can you explain this to me? First off, I know you are trying to hide behind the Chicks before Dicks thing in terms of Charlie/Joey, but then how do you explain yourself and DCreek? Or if you are choosing to ignore the Chicks before Dicks thing with the DCreek situation, why are you all about it with Joey and Charlie? I just need a little explaining here. Some one? Anyone? I think that is a stupid rule anyways. I don't think you should punish a guy by having his "rights" forver and blocking his attempts on your friends. Just saying. Especially when the female dumps the male as Jen did with Charlie.

Lastly, I loved how Pacey extended his run of women up to 7 and I wish he had closed the deal with his new boss. I know he "loves" Audrey and everything, but come on. She was a hot cougar!

And PS, can someone please tell me how Joey is going to pay for this season finale trip to Paris? If I recall correctly, she was mugged of her last $500, then after getting it back, she gave it to the dead mugger's family. Whatevs. But how is she going to pay for the trip to France again? No one answered that question. Unless in her ONE HALF of a shift at the yacht club she was able to make the $1000+ it takes to fly to Europe. Huh? What? Was the Yacht Club changed into a stirp club while the kids were in college?

Oh, and Jack joined a Frat? That might have been the worst storyline of the entire series. For the record.

I am looking forward to seeing how this stuff wraps up and I DO know that Jen dies in the finale, and I am REALLY looking forward to that. I hate Jen Lindley. I wish SHE had died instead of Abby in season 2 or 3, whenever that was. Abby was a WAY cooler character. Oh well.

Weekly GA High School blog from THISGUY!

The landscape of Georgia High School football didn't exactly shift due to any major earthquakes. But ranked teams did lose and others FINALLY moved into rankings.
Let's start with the state's largest classification-AAAAA.
The big news was East Paulding lost its first regular season game since 2006 and in the process, lost the region crown to Harrison. The Hoyas were ONCE AGAIN led by Robbie Godhigh in the 28-16 win. Godhigh had a 92 yard KR for TD and 103 rushing yards + another score, but he had to leave the game with an ankle sprain. QB Christian Burnett had 1 TD pass and 1 TD run, but if Godhigh is out any extended period of time, the Hoyas might let EPHS back into the regional race. If Godhigh can't go in the playoffs, Harrison is donezo....Meanwhile Walton looked mighty impressive in a 42-21 win over Centennial as Michael Boydston had 233 yards and three scores and WR Price Garrett's 9 catches for 175 and 3 TDs gave future opponents something to think about. You can't just load the box and dare Ray Rayburn to beat you because HE CAN....North Gwinnett's Michael Tamburo was solid again: 15-19 155, 2Tds passing, 1TD running in the team's 45-0 win over Northview...Grayson got it done yet again, 28-7 over Berkmar, a team that has really disappointed me. I had highger expectations for Berkmar. Oh well. Pemberton only had 63 yards rushing, but hey, give the Little Giant a break...Newnan is making Paul Mac look smarter every day with a 43-0 pasting of Westlake. Keandreas Wynn had two scores and Russell Powell deserved to be mentioned last week in our segment about QBs. He had 204 passing and 3 scores....Finally Camden made a statement with a 78-6 win. Greg Baker led everyone with three TDs. CamdenvLowndes could be HUGE...A tough loss for South Gwinnett as they started a HUGE stretch run in their attempt to make the playoffs. They go down in three OTs to Parkview, but Parkview was JUST as desperate, imo. Brandon Jacobs had three TDs for the Panthers, but maybe if SGHS lefty QB Michael Polascik didn't throw three first half INTs, the Comets might have been in better shape for their second half comeback. Props to the Panther coaching staff for not letting the team give up after surrendering the big lead...Paging the Brookwood run defense:YOU CAN START PLAYING AGAIN! Teh Broncos gave up 100+ yards AGAIN, this time to Diante Drake, but still won 27-14 over Central Gwinnett...Norcross clinched a playoff berth with a 17-0 homecoming win over North Forsyth. They seem to be rounding into form, DJ Adams especially, at the right time of the season. Maybe I wasn't a fool to predict good things for this team...The week the big games are Shiloh/SouthGwinnett, Brookwood/Dacula, Roswell/Milton, McEachern/Harrison, Walton/Lassiter, and Colquitt Co/Warner Robins.

Moving on the AAAA. The biggest "shock" was that No.2 Mays lost to Banneker and the AJC now has a QB-less Statesboro team ranked No.2 in the recent poll...I guess the pollmeister wasn't impressed with Sandy Creek's 3-0 win over Fayette County. I would STILL be kind of mad at Braxton Lane if I was Rio Johnson. Lane is the future 5th round MLB pick who decided to skip his senior season (even though he was maybe the BEST WR in the state) to "focus on his draft status." RRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrright. Sandy Creek would be a favorite to win AAAA if he was there. Now Johnson is throwing to a bunch of Jrs and Sophs. Poor guy...TCC is still hanging around: they survive 20-19 as Taylor Payne has 185 passing and Shaun Bryant rushes for 142 and 2 Tds. Terrible though. ONLY BECAUSE OF THEIR NAME ARE THEY RANKED!..Rome was led by FB PJ Green's three TDs. They play Dalton this week. Go Catamounts aka Fighting JCole's!...Evans DE Nigel Charles called his team "the worst 7-0 team in the state." Wow. Dude, you just got 3 sacks. Why are you poormouthing your own school?...And Apalachee had a chance to move back into the rankings and take over first place in the region, but the Wildcats lost 17-12 to Loganville. Chaun Gresham and Co. will still make the playoffs, but they will be bounced early. Too bad. that was a nice story...And Tucker is finally back in the rankings. IT'S ABOUT TIME AJC! But why at #9? They are better than #7 Sequoyah, #6 TCC, #5 Rome. Surprising that the rankings "expert" has them so low after so long out of the poll? Hmmm...This week, SWD plays Marist, Clarke Central/Cedar Shoals battle for Athens and Whitewater plays Fayette Co.

For a AAA recap, let's go to GPB's Fletcher Proctor: The Baldwin Braves looked sharp in taking down Richmond Hills. Jerrico Ford had two TDs rushing while Corico Hawkins led the defensive effort to a 38-0 shutout win. Meanwhile top-ranked Cairo traveled to Dougherty and Reginald Bryant’s 121 yards rushing and two scores paced the Syrupmakers to a 42-7 win. The Syrupmakers improved to 6-0 on the season. Conner Shaw and the No.7 Flowery Branch Falcons visited East Hall and while Shaw had one TD pass and one scoring run, it was Imani Cross doing the lions share of the work with 150 yards rushing and two scores. Dunwoody’s Erick Cooper and Treavor Scales helped the Wildcats thrash Columbia 45-12. Each accounted for one score. The always dangerous Grangers of LaGrange hosted Northside-Columbus and Ocie Slater’s two scores ended this one quickly 47-14 Finally Carver-Columbs, led defensively by Jarvis Jones manhandled Shaw 32-6 sending Shaw to its 6th loss of the year.
And for a preview of this week's AAA, let's go back to Fletcher Proctor: This week could be a very dangerous one for several teams ranked in the top ten of the Class AAA GPB/Score Atlanta rankings. Several ranked teams have a big game next week and might fall victim to the infamous trap game, also known as the look ahead game. No. 8 Carver-Columbus travels to Kendrick this week before visiting No. 2 LaGrange next Thursday. The Grangers shouldn’t be overlooking Columbus either because the home team would love nothing more than to knock off a highly ranked team. Corico Hawkins and his Baldwin Braves must watch out for Liberty County and not look ahead to a trip to No.9 Washington County. The No.1 Cairo Syrupmakers host a traditionally feisty Perry team. Blake Sims and the No.6 Red Elephants of Gainesville return to action against Gilmer. Finally Treavor Scales will see his first action since committing to play next season at Harvard when Dunwoody face McNair. (for more of Fletcher's rantings, visit Http://gpb.org/football)

Moving on to AA. Buford took down AAA's Thomson 29-0, proving to EVERYONE that they could TOTALLY play in a higher classification, but they'd rather just win hollow title after hollow title!...Fitzgerald took down Early County 21-6 and now one of their players will soon partake in the GT Tickle Piles next season. I don't remember his name, so let's just call him Elmo...Appling County is trying its darnedest to get me to mention them on HSH5, but I just can't do it. Congrats on winning 53-14 (Javon James 2 TDs) but sorry, you don't have a shot v Buford...Pepperell, behind Brandon Whitaker's 4 TDs beat Rockmart, and they play Coosa this week (On GPB's game of the week)...Brooks County's Martez Christopher had 225 yards in the FIRST HALF as they take down Berrien 40-14...Drew Little of Henry Co had to score a late rushing TD to outlast SWMacon 36-28. And Dublin won 23-20, behind Rashard Smith, yet again. Those two teams are the best chance of the field taking down Buford...

Finally Class-A. Wayshaun Ealy broke the GA state career TD record with his 111, 112 and 113 TDs, along with 243 yards in the 35-12 win over Hershel's old team Johnson Co...Athens Academy used three Will Daniel TD passes to beat Athens Christian and James Colquitt had 143 rushing in the 38-6 win...Congrats to John Spencer for rising from the dead to beat Marion Co. I know Leo from the West Wing could do a lot (wait, different John Spencer? Oops)...The only upset in that classification was Miller County falling to Seminole Co 12-13. This week, Athens Academy faces Wesleyan and Turner Co plays at Dooly Co. Enh...

That's a look at the last week of Georgia High School football from THISGUY, Fletcher Proctor. Tune in this Saturday morning from 9-10 on 790 The Zone for VW's high School High Five.

Grayson Rams win biggest game in Program's history

Note: This article was featured in yesterday's Score Atlanta and references the team's big win over Brookwood on October 10. To view the article, www.scoreatl.com or pick up a copy of Score Atlanta at any of the 1300 locations in the metro area...or keep reading!
GRAYSON ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL’S FIRST REGIONAL CROWN

As the clock was ticking towards triple zeros, the Grayson student body knew what was about to happen. The head football coach Mickey Conn knew what was about to happen. The players, though tired from a hard fought game knew what was about to happen. The Brookwood Broncos’ stranglehold on Region 8-AAAAA was coming to an end and the Rams were about to give Brookwood its first region loss since 2004, a streak of 29 straight region games. So please forgive the student body for getting a little premature in its celebration of arguably the school’s biggest regular season win ever. The Grayson Rams, after knocking off Brookwood 10-7 and Parkview 24-22 have the inside track to the Region 8 title. Coach Conn though is quick to point out that nothing has been won yet though. “We’re now getting everybody’s best game.” That may be true, but Conn’s team is meeting all of the challenges and is led by two strong-willed offensive standouts.
Quarterback Tyler Horne had Conn excited entering the season, and the senior has done nothing to temper the enthusiasm thus far. “Tyler’s very capable and we have a quarterback that can win a game.” Horne, noted mostly for his quick feet, was forced to pass in a game earlier this year against South Gwinnett and he shredded the Comets through the air en route to a 49-14 win. “We’re not going to change the way we prepare [for anyone]. We have a balanced offense with Horne and Pemberton and we think we can win playing our style of football.”
Horne has gotten help from the Little Giant Ean Pemberton. The diminutive running back stands only 5’4, but he plays much bigger with a huge heart, according to Conn. “He’s got tons of talent and he’s going to make somebody a heck of a college player someday.” In just the three weeks, Pemberton has averaged 183 yards per game and two touchdowns against Parkview helped knock off the Panthers. Pemberton toted the ball 39 times that game, but that doesn’t seem to faze him according to Conn. “We completely controlled the line of scrimmage in the second half. We can do a bunch of things offensively, but we’d rather run the football [with Pemberton].”
As good as Grayson looked entering the Brookwood game though, the Broncos were still the three time defending regional champs and Coach Mark Crews had his team clicking. The Broncos appeared to have gotten past the team’s early losses and Brice Smith was leading a pumped up offense. The defensive line though allowed just seven points to the potent Bronco rushing attack, though Conn wasn’t surprised. “They [the defensive line] have been the biggest surprise of the year. They play with a lot of heart.” A turnover on special teams allowed Horne to show his quick feet with a touchdown. A field goal from Austin Clark iced the game for the Rams. Pemberton became the first 100 rusher Brookwood had allowed all season with 140 yards on 27 carries. Of the effort Conn noted, “This kid’s unbelievable.”
This team may be well on the way to a region title, and while the regular season title is nice, the home field advantage it brings delights Conn the most. “We would like to be the 1 seed and not have to travel. We got into trouble at Camden last season.” Last season the Rams’ hopes of a state title ended in South Georgia with a 22-7 loss, but Conn is hopeful that won’t be the case this season. “We will just keep fighting and scratching every game to reach the playoffs.” The team last week scratched out a win against Berkmar thanks to a Pemberton TD, a Horne scoring toss and a blocked punt for a score.
With the team’s recent success, the playoffs are all but assured and now the team can focus on advancing back to the Georgia Dome where this season started with a 31-21 thrashing of McEachern in the Kell Powerade Classic. “Everybody’s happy right now,” says Conn. The key will be for the Rams to keep rolling with Meadowcreek and Central Gwinnett remaining on the schedule. Win those and the Rams will be able to celebrate an undefeated region title and they’ll have that number one seed the team wanted entering the season. “It’s been a great building process and we’ve got great kids. We’ve built this the right way and these kids play with such heart.”

Midweek Entertainment report 10/22/08

Paris won't be friends with a guy, Britney Spears looks good neckked, and More sequels.

Ladies and Gentlemen, It's the Midweek Entertainment report!

CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP!

Last night, after a visit from Perez Hilton, Paris Hilton send Mike Onch home in the quest to find her new best friend. I would be upset, but I am really not. I didn't like how Mike and Ziu tried to turn everyone in the house against Corrie. They led the charge in calling her fake, why? Because they were jealous. Mike Onch and Ziu ,aka minnymouse on XTC, realized that they didn't have a chance against Corrie, so they tried to get her kicked out. And they would have been succesful, if the friend candidates got to kick folks out. But Paris gets to show people the door and Paris realized, "ummm I can show up at a red carpet even with mike onch or with Corrie. I'll take Corrie. Thanks!"
I was surprised though that Natashia didn't get the boot. She isn't going to win, so why keep her around? I agree with parts of what she says in that a "friendship" should be give and take and BOTH people need to bring something to it, not just someone sucking up to the other. But the way she is going about everything, that's just not how I would do it. She is like a racecar and she's in the red right now. Things aren't good for her and I think she is GONE next week, though it does look like Corrie will get to pick and if I am Corrie, I am sending Zui packing.

I caught Britney Spears' new video Womanizer on yahoo video the other day. WOW. She has come BACK. Officially, she is BACK. WOW. When she is in that steam room, pulsating naked...mmmmph. Good stuff there Brit. Way to make it back. Now just start dating a young upandcomer (please not Shia LaBoof though please. Maybe a Matt Nathanson or something) and I think we can say that you are the official phoenix of our generation. Good work Brit!

Hey, why did Hollywood decide to go back to the sequel mill for this weekend? High School Musical 3? Saw V? And now news about Iron Man 2....come on. Hey, why are the main kids from HSM3 still doing that stuff? The Zac kid, he hasn't gotten bigger than that? Vanessa Hudgins or whatever, didn't she pose nearly nude? Aren't they bigger than having to do HSM3? As far as Saw V, I will continue to say that those movies JUST AREN'T SCARY for me. Yes, it would SUCK to be caught by that jigsaw guy (or his apprentice if I read the summary correctly), but watching it? It is uncomfortable, yes. But scary? NO. And as far as Iron Man 2, you guys had better start shooting now, before Robert Downey Jr relapses again and has to enter rehab. Unless, that part is written into the script....

That's it. Have a great one, and if you see 13 at a bar and you are a GUY, save your money. She's into your girlfriend!

Lost control of his program? are ya KIDDING?

OK I've reached my boiling point with people that have said that Georgia coach Mark Richt has lost control of his program. Listen, I stood there when the national media kept calling UGA overrated and saying that they were exposed in the loss to Alabama, and to the gentleman who writes for SI.com (Stew Mandel, maybe?) please get your story straight. [You say that UGA hasn't beaten anyone and the Bama game showed they aren't that good, but then you validate Alabama's #2 ranking by saying "well they took it to UGA at Sanford Stadium!" Let's get the story straight please: is UGA good and lost a bad game to a great team? or is UGA terrible, but then people shouldn't get credit for beating them.]

I've also stood back and not commented as TMoore from the AJC takes his potshots at Georgia (I know he does it just to get a rise out of people because he is probably paid by how many blog hits he gets...).

But I can't stand it anymore. To all of the Gator fans, Tech fans, Tennessee fans, Auburn fans, and to the writers and national media that says Mark Richt has lost control of his program with all of the arrests, (10 since January) could we please go back and look at them?

-Clint Boling DUI and charges reduced to Reckless driving. Not terrible

-Justin Anderson and Trinton Sturdivant-rubbing a pregger's belly-charges dropped

-Jeremy Lomax speeding and carrying a concealed weapon-WEAPONS CHARGE DROPPED. guy basically got a speeding ticket

-Fred Munzenmeir(third string fullback) peeing in public. Wow. Drunk kids in college?

-Baldwin(never played for UGA in three years) and a walk-on -getting in a fight downtown, where the cops admitted they were instigated

-Jeff Henson (backup long snapper) pooped in a parking lot. DUDE IS THE BACKUP LONG SNAPPER! gimmie a break.

now these two arrests from the past weekend. Brandon Wood was being a good samaritan by driving (drunk) his girlfriend and her friend home from downtown. His BAC was .113 (the limit is .08) and so he is out for the LSU game. Could the UGA Police have told him to just go home (since he was three blocks from his house) maybe, but rulez is rulez.

as far as Vince Vance, he was arrested because his learners permit was expired. dude didn't have a full on license, just a learners permit that had expired 12/07. I would say give him a break, but that was maybe a little TOOOOOOOOO long for him to get a break. He deserved to get a citation. Arrested? Well it is an arrestable offense, but come on. The UGA cops are just dicks. Wifey can tell you from personal experience.

As far as people saying that he's lost control of his program....should Brandon Wood have been driving? No, but I don't think he was planning on driving. And if he had told his girlfriend to take a cab...if she is anything like how my girlfriend in college was, she probably would have told him he'd be looking for a new girldfriend if he didn't come pick her up.
As far as Vince Vance's arrest, if you want to say that having an expired permit is Richt "losing control of the program," dude, get out more!

Yeah, Mark Richt is really LOSING control of the program. Wait, did any of these kids MURDER someone (Baylor)? Did any of these kids use a dead woman's credit card to make several purchases (Florida)? Was rape involved(Colorado)? Did any of them steal(South Carolina)? Did any get involved with organized crime(Ohio State)? Did any of them take their 2-year old daughter to a drug deal then tell the cops, "Oh I thought that was a Dora The Explorer Doll. My bad!"(GaTech)? Did any of them get their 5th DUI(Tennessee)?

Wow, let's ride Mark Richt out on a rail! And let's continue to heap praise on Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll and Jim Tressell.

I just don't think Mark Richt needs to be answering questions like this the week of LSU. Baton Rouge is the ONLY venue in all of the SEC where CMR has yet to taste victory. I know he'd rather be focused on that, opposed to having to answer questions about a kid with an expired driver's permit-WHO IS INJURED ANYWAYS! Punishments have been doled out (moreso than at 90% of other SEC Schools, for the record) and let's move on. Lost control of the program? It must be a slow news day. Either that or you are jealous he isn't your head coach.

Bottom line, if Richt has lost control of the program and UGA is #7 in the First BCS poll of the year with a big chance to move up big time in the next few weeks, then GOOD. I bet South Carolina and Clemson and Tennessee and Notre Dame wish their coaches could "Lose Control of their programs" like Richt "has."

Braves announcer to step down

This is part of what I have written about Pete Van Wieren for my weekly Score Atlanta Column, which will be out NEXT Wednesday. Thought I'd throw you guys a sneak peek. Be sure to visit www.scoreatl.com and grab a copy of Score ATL when it his the stands tomorrow and EVERY Wednesday. (PS, tomorrow's prep edition has my interview with Grayson head coach Mickey Conn. Check it out!)

The 2009 Braves radio broadcasts will certainly sound different than in past seasons. Long time Braves broadcaster Pete Van Wieren announced his retirement Tuesday, ending his 33 year relationship with the franchise. This past season, “The Professor” called games exclusively for the two radio affiliates of the Braves Radio Network but had previously worked for the Braves television partners as well.

"This is something my family and I have been thinking about the last couple of years," said Van Wieren in a statement released by the club. "It's simply a desire to live my life without the restrictions of a baseball schedule. I want to thank the Braves, my broadcast partners and especially the fans for their support over the years."

Van Wieren has been such a staple in Atlanta since he started with the Braves for the 1976 season. We was elected to the Braves Hall of Fame in 2004, along with his long-time partner Skip Caray. In 2006, Van Wieren was awarded the Georgia Sportscaster of the Year Award by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association, his tenth and final time winning the honor. The Atlanta Journal also tabbed him as Atlanta’s Favorite Sportscaster in 1977. Much like Caray, Van Wieren called other Atlanta sports early on in his Atlanta career including the Atlanta Flames (NHL), the Hawks and the Atlanta Falcons. He worked as a sports reporter with CNN and even worked with TBS as a college football play-by-play announcer.

Because it was HIS fault, right Spike?

I had to laugh when I saw what Spike Lee did....

Spike Lee has left his Hollywood talent agent of more than 15 years in the wake of the dismal box office performance of his latest movie.

The combative filmmaker jumped to Endeavor from William Morris, three weeks after his World War Two movie "Miracle at St. Anna" opened to just $3.5 million; the Disney release has grossed just $7.5 million to date.

Before "Anna," Lee directed his largest-grossing film to date, the heist thriller "Inside Man," which drew $176 million worldwide in 2006. A sequel is one of several upcoming projects set up by William Morris. Lee did not respond to a request for comment.

I am surprised that Spike blamed the movie on Morris. Why didn't he blame it on Bush, like Lee has done for every other tragedy that has happened in the last 6 years? Just wondering. I guess now Lee will have time to get around to suing everyone in America who names his/her dog Spike. Well he sued a television network for calling itself Spike, even though it wasn't named after him.
What a pompous @$$. Hey SPIKE, Maybe take some Hooray RESPONSIBILITY yourself. Ever think that maybe your movie just straight up sucked and it was YOUR FAULT? Oh, wait, I forgot. We live in 2008 where nothing anyone does is EVER his/her own fault. It is ALWAYS someone else's. And PS, since your movie has only grossed 7.5M, maybe you think that your agent bought a few tickets himself and WITHOUT him, you wouldn't have even made THAT much?

Just think about it Spike. Just don't sue me!

No Mas Hills?

When I first heard the dork that cohosts the Hills Aftershow allude to this frightening possibility, I thought, "Oh no." What will I watch after Prisonbreak on Mondays?
The two "hosts" of the Aftershow tried to say that I would have Twitney's new show The City to look forward to (more on this in a second), but I just thought, CRAP. Why would MTV cancel one of its biggest shows? LC says she is tired of TV? Really? You think people are going to buy your crappy clothing line when you don't have a show anymore? I think not. Remember any of the "stars" of the Real World shows that aren't on the Challenges these days? No. THAT'S what would happen to you. You would become the next Amaya. Look forward to it.

And how could LC take away Brody's TV time? Same with Frankie? And if The Hills went away, how would I ever know how Audrina and Justin Bobby's relationship turned out. (Though I can guess that they'd get together, have a little sex, then he would be a jerk to her, they'd breakup, just to start the cycle over again....)
Heidi and Spencer I am not so worried about because if MTV doesn't give them their own show (which I would TOTALLY WATCH, and you would too!) I have a feeling they would move to NYC and appear on Twitney's show. And if Twit's show started to fall back, LC's "job" at People's Revolution (or whatever her place of fake employment is called) would send her to NYC for two episodes, er I mean a few weeks to salvage the ratings, even though I think that LC might be the worse character on her own show....

But then they previewed Twit's show and I have to say that WOW, it appears she actually has a vocabulary of more than just "OMG," and "yeah," and "uh huh." Apparently the producers/writers have expanded her lexicon to include full sentences and perhaps her OWN opinions. I mean, she won't be able to just agree with LC on The City. Might be a stretch for her, but we shall see.
The City looks pretty interesting and Olivia might be the new Spencer, at least that is how that are maybe trying to set it up. And You've gotta love the potential for a love triangle. Sorry Twit, but I am not certain that you are going to turn out smart enough to figure out who is lying. You maybe be finding out when you watch the episodes just like the rest of us. There IS a reason I call you Twitney. No offense, but if the hair color fits.

Bottom line, I am hoping that this spinoff(The City) to a spinoff(The Hills) to a more-or-less spinoff(Laguna Beach) to a popular show (The OC) that was possibly a show created in homage to another (90210) is just a temporary thing and we will get The Hills back in April. A 14 year old girl trapped in a 27 year old guy's body can hope, right?

Well I had a drug problem TOO, now pay ME!

Oh, I guess, instead of just getting a job like normal people, former actors and actresses are coming out with their LIFE STORIES ;) and getting paid. Maureen McCormick aka Marcia Brady I guess realized that the royality checks from The Brady Bunch were starting to dry up so she has started hitting the VH1 former celeb reality series tour.

Her first stop was Celebrity Fit Club, then it was some show with Bobby Brown, then ANOTHER show with Bobby Brown where they ran a Bed and Breakfast. Yeah, I'd want to stay THERE, not.

And now her "tell-all" book "Here's the Story" where she reveals that she got hooked on drugs and was, at one point, trading sex for cocaine. Nice. Here is my question, Marcia, why? Was being a child star that terrible? I mean you had Steve Martin wanting to date you (and you blew that.) You had Stephen Speilberg wanting to cast you in Raiders of the Lost Arc( and you blew that.)
Did Cindy do blow? No, and she had a lisp. She totally had a reason to need to do it. Did Jan do blow? No, and she had the middle child syndrome. But perfect little Marcia needed to rock the nose candy. Was it because you were sleeping with your brother? Hmmmmmm.

This just goes back to my hatred of child actors and my reasoning for NOT wanting them to talk until they are 16 or 18. That way you wouldn't have all of these actors so F-ed up as 20 year old or adults.

But VH1 is disagreeing with me because if these child actors didn't get so messed up, then what would VH1 do for programming? I mean, what if Screech had never gotten fat? If Marcia never did blow? If Peter Brady had never gone on to do NOTHING with his life.... I think VH1 is secretly hooking these kids on drugs and getting them to F their lives up so in 26 years, VH1 will have programming. Hey, I guess they are constantly planting the seeds to bloom down the road. So pretty soon we should be seeing several shows with the crew from Adventures of Pete N Pete, and Sam from Clarissa explains it all and the Fat chick from All That.

Maybe just maybe we can have some NORMAL child actors and actresses? (you know, assuming the rules of our zonetastic President of TV aren't enacted anytime soon..) Hey, can we please make sure the chick from Litte Miss Sunshine doesn't get hooked on XTC in the next 3 months? I don't want her ending up FAT like Marcia Brady and having to talk to Mara Davis on Dave FM. (Actually I don't want ANYONE to have to suffer that fate....)

I hate to say it, but there is no getting around it

From the way it has looked (according to THIS GUY) for most of this season, it appears that Georgia Running back Knowshon Moreno is playing "not to get hurt." As a redshirt sophomore, Knowshon is eligible for the NFL draft after this season and many pundits have him as a potential first rounder, possibly even in the top 15. Hey, he has an investment and I can't fault him for wanting to protect it, but as a Georgia fan, I'd like to see him get after it a little more. QUIT TAPPING YOUR HELMET!

Very nice future prospects for #24 of the Red and Black. Too bad he is playing his sophomore year to NOT get hurt. He doesn't appear to be going all out like he did last season. Remember after the Florida game last year when Moreno said he could have played another full game? This was when he carried 30+ times and had no backup due to injuries. We fell in love with him that game and I don't think he tapped his helmet a single time that game.

This year though, he has Caleb King and Richard Samuel behind him and he LOOKS like he is asking to come out more this season. I am not doubting that he doesn't run hard when he's in there. You can see that he is stiff-arming folks in their FACES and leaping over the opposition, but WHY with the game hanging in the balance, was he on the sidelines as Caleb King was in the game. Crunch time and KM24 is NOT in there? COME ON! I see Knowshon run it on first down, then block on second down, but then I see #24 tapping his helmet to come out for 3rd and short. Huh? Did that really wear you out? Get back in there!

When asked about substitutions, CMR said that the players dictate when they come out and Knowshon can stand by Tony Ball (the running backs coach) to let them know he is ready to come back in. Has Knowshon's endurance dropped THAT much since that Florida game? Was that just lip service? Can he not be in an entire series? I can understand his coming out if it is 3-9 (well not really since BooBoo loves running that little screen to him) but I didn't understand that as a 19/20/21 year old young man would need that many breathers.

Bottom line, the guy is insanely talented, but he is asking out way more than I'd like. I hope he was just saving his energy for the next two games, but unfortunately I think he is saving it for 2009 when he is running back kicks and punts for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Knowshon, prove me wrong. PLEASE. Go out and have another 175 yard day with a few TDs this Saturday against LSU. But dude, if the game is on the line in the fourth, I want YOU on the field, not Caleb King. No disrespect to #4, but he is NO #24.

Cullen Harper's big mouth picks!

Before we get into the picks for the weekend, I found it funny that Cullen Harper will now undergo shoulder surgery and will miss the next 2-4 weeks. Hmmm, this was a guy that after he was "thrown under the bus" according to his dad on 680 the fan, kicked his coach when he was out the door via a text message to ESPN. Then he tried to say that he was talking about Dabo Sweeney and how "he deserved it" RRRRRIGHT Cullen. You meant Dabo deserved the job. Uh huh. Sure you did. Only after when you started to think about how you just HURT your dwindling draft status did this "oh you misinterpreted what I meant" come about. Listen DUDE, only a perfect season and national championship and Heisman would have even gotten you DRAFTED. Why are you trying to play this whole thing off like "I decided to return for my senior year to win a title!"? You know you would NOT have been drafted last year and if you HAD achieved that triple crown I just laid out, CONGRATS, you are Matt Flynn and are taken in the 6th round. Good work, Cullen.
And PS, if you think NOW that an NFL team wants a player who wasn't good enough or motivated enough to keep his coach's job, then threw him under the bus and had his FATHER critize the coach on the radio. Yeah, that is JUST the fringe prospect I WANT ON MY NFL TEAM! Can the redskins draft him please? PSYCHE! Bottom line Cullen, maybe if you hadn't sucked so bad, Tommy would still have a job and you'd still be starting QB instead of GOING TO THE SIDELINES ANYWAYS due to surgery. MAYBE!

now then...on to the picks!
#7 Texas Tech @ TAMU. Remember when Texas A&M used to be a respectable team? The 12th man. The Cadets kissing their girlfriends after a score. Those girls aren't getting kissed this season it seems. The Red Raiders win this one and some of the Aggie ladies think about transferring so they can get some. Girls have needs too!

Da Cuse @ #19 SoFla. What is Syracuse waiting for now? If they didn't want to be the first to fire a coach or to fire him in mid-season, well KLIMPSEN already opened that floodgate. As jennifer love hewitt would say, "WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? HUH?" So Fla is going to WIN the Big East, because you KNOW Pitt will mess that up somehow. The Bulls AT LEAST win this game.

#21 Wake Forest @ Maryland. You know what's sad? This is probably the marquee conference matchup of the week. WOW. Wake Forest has a PHAT coach in Grobe. Maryland's coach is just fat. Decs beat the Turtles.

Purdue @ Northwestern. Oh, so I guess we know where Pam Ward is this weekend. In the Chicago area. LOOK OUT DARWIN! The Boilermakers didn't give up an offensive TD to duh Ohio State last week, but they still lost. Curtis Painter gets his revenge at Ryan Field. (isn't that what it is called?) Fighting Darwins go down. Sorry Cristy

Wisco @ Iowa. THANK GOODNESS The Big 11 created their own network (which NO ONE has bought) If not, then this crapfest would still be on an ESPN channel. I wish the Big 11 would put ALL of their games on that network, then I just WOULDN'T go to Buffalo Wildwings and I could avoid the conference all together. Oh, Wisco wins because Iowa sucks THAT MUCH. Ask Kill Joy. He would tell you the same.

Baylor @ #8 Okie State. The Pokes are coming off a big road win. Will there be a letdown at home? Against ANY team other than the Bears MAYBE. hey Art Briles is going to get things going there, but just not yet. Although how said is it that the Baylor bear players might look forward to going to Stillwater? I mean they live in Waco normally. Pokes win.

Ole Miss @ #2 Bama. So everyone is saying that this is going to be the big upset of the week. Houston Nutt knows how to beat top 5 teams! True, he beat Florida this year, but I am not thinking that lightning will strike twice. I'd LOVE for it to happen, but I think Bama takes care of Business. Is it CLOSE? Yes. Ole Miss has talent, but Bama eeks one out. Now if this game was being played in Sanford Stadium, the the Tide would roll, but at home.....close game.

#16 KU @ #4 OU Can we PLEASE stop s-ing the d of the Big 12 conference? I know KU is ranked, but so is Vandy. Come on. I broke this down last Sunday on 790 The Zone (Score Atlanta Scoreboard Final, Airing during the Falcons games!) If you broke down the ranked teams from Big 12 v SEC, the SEC still wins. UTex v Bama-toss up; OU v Florida-Fla, Texas Tech-UGA-UGA; LSU v Okie State-LSU; Mizzou v Vandy-Mizzou; KU v SoCar-SoCar-that defense!; Tenn v Nebraska-tossup; Auburn-TexasA&M-Auburn; UK v Colorado-UK; Iowas State v Ole Miss-UM; Baylor v Miss State-MSU; Arkie v KSU-KSU=8 for SEC, 2 for Big 12, 2 tossups. SEC Wins, hands down. Oh, for this game....OU, Duh!

#12 Duh Ohio State @ #20 Michigan State. What is sad is that Ohio State will win and the voters will count this as a HUGE ROAD WIN. because it is SOOOOO tough to go ON THE ROAD in the Big 11 and win a road game. You know, because winning at Indiana or at Iowa or at Minnesota is SOOOO TOUGH! Javon Ringer is good, but Beanie Wells is better. I know, because his mother told me!

Miami @ Duke. Is Duke Favored? This WOULD have been my upset special, but I think Duke is favored. WOW. How THE U has fallen. Duke has a better coach and though the players favor Miami, Duke wins because they will be better coached. Miami is still A LONG ways away. Sorry Jon Michaels, Tad and Dennis. Dennis, I will try and keep Linda away from you on Monday. I'll remind her.

Stanford @ UCLA. I thought Rick Neuheisel was supposed to turn the Bruins around? Maybe he needs to cheat a little harder. The Cardinal win behind Screech's cousin. Does anyone else remember when Harbaugh showed up at Bayside (the new class) in his full Colts gear, claiming he was Screech's cousin? That cracked me up. Right up there with Jim Abbot(in Yankees gear) telling Corey Matthews (in Phillies little league getup) not to give up. Stanford wins.

Michigan v #3 Penn State. The Nittany Lions haven't won against Michigan since 1996? really? is that right? Hmmmmmm. Well get your whuppin' sticks out for this game. Michigan is going to get stomped. Hey, why did Michigan boosters really need to have the AD say that RichRod is safe from being fired? REALLY? You guys, after living through Lloyd Carr all those years you REALLY want to fire RichRod this soon? I would have thought that you guys would be used to mediocrity. Cake's boys win this. And Paul Mac is looking more and more like a genius EVERYDAY!

Arkie @ UK. U-K, more like U-SUCK. Thanks for that Benji! In all seriousness though, I want UK to win this, then beat Florida next week, then keep it rocking and maybe even get ranked before UGA travels to the Bluegrass state and stomps then down. Question though, how come, UK's field isn't blue? They live in the BLUE GRASS state. They have blue as one of their colors? Why wouldn't they put the blue turf in there? I will have to ask my cousin. Wildcats beat Petrino and the Hogs.

Oregon State v Washington. PAC10 FOOTBALL! GET SWEPT UP IN IT! The Beavers will beat the Huskies. Dam the Huskies suck! Get it? Dam, like where a beaver lives?

miss state v Tennasty. Fulmer will FINALLY get a win. But the question is, why isn't Sly Croom getting any heat on him this season? Oh, that's right. We aren't allowed to knock him, despite the fact that his vaunted defense isn't that good and his offense is offensive. Way to go to a bowl last year though guys. YOU GUYS LOST TO GA TECH. COME ON! YOU GUYS SUCK. But so does Tennessee, but I don't think THEY would have lost to GT.

#11 Mizzou @ #1 Texas. Everyone thinks THIS ONE should be in my upset special too, but Texas looked too good last week and Mizzou's fatal flaws were exposed, namely their defense is terrible against teams NOT with a direction in their names. The Horns hook the Tigers as Mizzou is destined to wind up in the Alamo Bowl before this season is over.

#13 LSU @ SoCar. Wait, the AJC thinks this will be an upset? WHAT? No, we want LSU to think they are BACK so they can lose NEXT WEEK to UGA. We know that LSU under les miles loses two games every year. IT CAN'T BE THIS GAME BECAUSE UGA NEEDS IT TO BE NEXT WEEK! So Car, just lay down. LSU wins so they can lose next week!

#17 VaTech @ BC. Remember when Matty Ice won in Blacksburg last year in the last two minutes? Wow, that game got Ryan drafted and he looked impressive in the last 6 seconds last Sunday. But then VaTech beat the team's brains out in the ACC Championship. The Beat them AGAIn in Chestnut Hill. Hokies take it.

#25 Cali @ Zona. Listen, the only reason Cali is #25 is because SOMEONE had to be. There are really only 22 good teams in college football this year worthy of ranking. The Fighting Sandy's are just the beneficiary of the RULE that states you have to have 25. But Zona wins this one and helps Mike Stoops continue his reign of terror. At least that's what the Zona boosters claim he is doing to THEM!

Legally paid league
The Falcons are off this week. The Redskins lost to the Rams. Let's move on!

Special games
Lock of the week
#6 USC @ Wazzou. Wazzou is a 43 point underdog. But Joe McKnight isn't going to play.....it won't matter. Mitch Mustain will see cleanup duty in this one...in the second quarter. Men of Troy crush

Upset of the week
#18 UNC @ UVa. The Tar Heels haven't won in C'ville since the early 1980s. So it has been a while. Wait, could I have typed it's mean "it has"? Can that contraction work there? I need to look this up. Daddio will be in attendance and he will see Groh winning this one. Has a coach ever won COach of the year, then the next season taken home Comeback coach of the year award? Groh must STAY!

Local rooting interest
GT @ Klimpsen. Because the tigers broke the fletcher-imposed rule of not firing Bowden for three seasons, OF COURSE I have to pick them to lose. If Bowden had stayed, I think Klimpsen would have won this game, but now, with WILLY KORN in there, GT takes it. BTW, I will TOTALLY be rooting for Willy Korn to do well, just so Cullen Harper can see his draft status fall even farther. Could he be blacklisted? I don't know. I would, but that's just me. GT and the defense win this one. PS, way to almost lose to Gardner Webb last week a-holes!

#22 Vandy @ #10 UGA. The UGA offense will FINALLY get going v an SEC opponent and I think AJ Green catches TWO TDs as BooBoo and CMR make an effort to get him to forget last week. Maybe even first play ala ASU game. And Knowshon prolly goes for 150. Now, will Vandy's O hang against UGA's seemingly overhyped Defense (which I proudly boasted about ALL SUMMER on 790 the Zone's Zone SPorts Sunday)? Maybe for 3 quarters, but in the end, this one WON'T end with Vandy dancing on the Georgia G or even Georgia celebrating, just UGA knowing that this is 1 down ANOTHER tough one to go next week. UGA puts this game in had probably middle of the third and then puts in the vanilla offense for the remainder of the game in a 27-13 win.

There we go, be sure to tune in Saturday morning for High School High 5 on Sports Radio 790 The Zone. 9-10 am. Fletcher runs point this weekend!
