Braves update and such from Score Atl's Braves Beat writer

Braves officials revealed last week MRI results taken on Chipper Jones’ right shoulder. The injury prevented Jones from starting the last few games of the season and the All-Star third baseman feared surgery would be needed. However, the results confirmed acute tendonitis and surgery will not be needed. Braves orthopedist Xavier Duralde has prescribed a therapy and strength program that should allow Jones to be 100% for spring training. Jones won the batting title at age 36 with a .364 average while playing in 128 games, the third fewest of his career.
Attendance figures were released for all Major League teams and the Braves proved to be quite the road draw. In 79 road games, the Braves drew a total of 2,694,281 for an average of 34,105 per game. At home, the team had 81 dates and 2,532,834 passed through the turnstiles for an average of 31,270 per home date. The final standings showed the Braves played the team’s best ball at home (43-38) and against NL West teams (20-14). The team ended with an 11-30 record in one run games, including a second 27 straight one-run road losses.
Even though the playoffs are still going strong, Braves GM Frank Wren has hinted recently that the Braves may be players in the trade market this offseason. The team should have roughly $45 Million in payroll to try and rebuild the starting rotation, but the team may look to make a trade instead of overbidding for a high-priced arm. Last season Wren found Jair Jurrjens in a trade with Detroit and then sent reliever Tyler Yates to Pittsburgh in exchange for Todd Redmond, who was named Southern League Pitcher of the Year. Redmond may see action soon for Atlanta. Several free agent pitchers soon to hit the market include John Lackey, Derek Lowe, CC Sabathia, Ben Sheets and Jon Garland. Atlanta may also choose to resign the team’s own free agents in John Smoltz, Tom Glavine and/or Mike Hampton.
Throughout the season the Atlanta Braves Foundation held various fundraisers both inside and outside the stadium and the fruits of those labors were recently announced. The organization recently awarded grants totaling $87,000 to multiple non-profit organizations including the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Atlanta Track Club, Canine Companions for Independence and the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, among others.
The Baseball America Prospect Rankings were recently updated and several Braves farmhands appeared on the list. For the Southern League, two Mississippi Braves made the top 20 including No.9 pitcher Tommy Hanson and No.13 Schafer. RHP Luis Valdez was one of the final cuts for the top 20. On the Braves list of top ten prospects, two names to keep an eye on include LHP Cole Rohrbough and Columbian RHP Julio Tehran, both signed before the 2008 season. Rohrbough has been noted for having the best control of any Braves prospect, which Tehran has been praised for having the organization’s best fastball.
