The Official Visit's top Georgia QBs

Scott the Brain Janovitz (his personal choice of nicknames) and myself Fletcher Proctor broke down the top Georgia high school senior signal callers last Tuesday on Score Atlanta's The Official Visit. While I went with a few guys that won't play QB in college, Scotty2Hottie went with guys that should play QB at the next level.
My philosophy has ALWAYS been, on the high school level, get your best players the ball anyway possible. If that means AJ Green is taking snaps, fine! Get the PLAY-MAKAHs the daggum ball!

Scotty's list
1. Martay Mattox: 6-1, 185-pounder out of Clarke Central. Committed to South Carolina. Has a very strong arm, throws a decent deep ball, has good but not great accuracy, and is tremendous running the football. Can play a number of positions, but will get a chance to play QB at SC. Throws well on the run.
2. Akil Dan-Fodio: 6-4, 210-pounder out of Redan. Offers from Harvard, UAB and UCF. Is a good athlete with nice speed and quickness for someone his size. A bit of a funky release, but great size, good arm strength and a quick release. Not great accuracy, but good enough. Great upside. Very good throwing on the run.
3. Ronnie Bell: 6-0, 175-pounder out of Sandy Creek. Offer from Ohio. A very fast, elusive player with the ball in his hands. Tremendous threat as a runner. Strong arm, and excels at getting outside the pocket and throwing on the run. Doesn’t show great touch, but throws the deep ball well and very impressive hitting receivers going across the middle.
4. Austin Brown: 6-1, 195-pounder out of Flowery Branch. Transferred from Habersham Central. Committed to Western Carolina. Very small in stature, and despite good accuracy lack arm strength. Actually reminds me a bit of Jaybo Shaw, who could throw the deep ball, but with a monster windup. Knows where to go with the ball, and gets it there. Really nice touch on the ball and a lightning quick release. Really can make all the throws. Very good accuracy.
5. Carson Barnett: 6-1, 187-pounder out of Landmark Christian. Committed to Elon. Doesn’t have great arm strength, but is very accurate and really knows how to play the position. Great with play action, comfortable in the pocket, and great throwing the deep ball despite not having a great arm. Great touch making all the throws. Good under center and in the shotgun.

Just missing: Briar Van Brunt (Northside-WR), and Kent Rollins (SoGwin), and Abdul Saboor out of Alpharetta.

My List:
1) Nick Marshall, Wilcox Co. A playmaker that led his team to the Class A title last year by simply being the best player on the field. This year, he's going to add cornerback to his list of things he does for the Patriots, as they'll prolly win YET ANOTHER state title, though Charlton Co will give them a run for their money not just in the playoffs, but in their REGION!

2) Martay Mattox, Clarke-Central. Scotty went on and on about him earlier. This guy is good. Took C-CHS to the state finals last year. Spurrier likes him enough to give him a scholly to the SEC. I like this guy. But I like Marshall better.

3) CJ Uzomah, NoGwinn. He'll play WR at Auburn, but hey, at the high school level, he makes for a fine QB. Did well for them last season to say the least. Get the best player the ball and good things happen. The guy is 6'5. that helps.

4) Ronnie Bell, Sandy Creek. With no Rajion Neal, Bell will be counted upon to do more in this offense. He can do it. he has a beautiful deep ball, but needs to work on the short and middle routes. He is an athlete and can do it with his feet. He has a nice weapon in Alex Chisum. Bell should be just fine, especially with SCHS dropping down to 3A

5) Taylor Heinicke, Collins Hill. No Charles Perkins to serve as a distraction, but that's OK. Heinicke (to be featured on the show The Ride, that Hutson Mason appeared on last year), may not have the size of Mason, but he can get it done with his arm. Look for CHHS to challenge PTR and NoGwinn once again for that region BECAUSE of Heinicke's arm. His offers will come.

Just missing my cut: SoGwinn's Kent Rollins. he has a running game to help him out, though at 6'1 (5'11 in real life?), I wish he was a few inches taller. His offer will come too. He is too good and will do some nice things with the weapons he has at SoGwinn that the Comets are my pick to upset Grayson and Brookwood to take the Region.
Briar Van Brunt, NS-WR. A bit like Tebow in that, when I saw him twice last season, if they needed a yard, he was getting it, head down. A warrior.
