Trouble in Lithia Springs, Brookwood eyes repeat

A Lithia Springs coach has been arrested and charged with sexual assault stemming from an incident involving a 17-year-old student. Dennis Keith Brown, 52 was arrested Wednesday by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. A Douglas County Sheriff Office spokesman told the Douglas County Sentinel that an investigation found that the teacher and coach had a sexual encounter with a female student in September during school hours. ...

The Brookwood Broncos have a chance to pull off a repeat this year and that wouldn’t be all that uncommon in GHSA AAAAA football. Since expanding to a fifth classification, Parkview won three straight from 2000-02, Lowndes won back-to-back in 2004-05 and Camden County won in 2008-09. After a 20-21 overall record in four seasons at Westlake, head coach Greg Minnis has stepped down following the conclusion of his team’s 4-6 year. Westlake lost to Colquitt County, Stephenson and ML King this year. ...

Northside head coach Kevin Kinsler seems to have the regular season down, going 20-0 through his first two regular season slates with the Eagles. Last year in the playoffs however Kinsler and the Eagles fell to Whitewater in the first round. This year the No. 3 Eagles host Glynn Academy, a team that has won four straight. According to Macon.com, the Eagles have scored 30+ in nine of 10 games this season.
