Here he breaks down the safety position.
10. Jake Skole (Blessed Trinity) – 6-1. 185. Is one of the more versatile players in the state as he can play quarterback, retune punts, plays safety and is a standout baseball player. Recorded 90 tackles and four interceptions during the 2008 season. Has been offered by East Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech.
9. DeAndre Smelter (Tattnal Square) – 6-2. 202. Is a very intelligent player that has great field awareness. During the 2007 season, Smelter recorded 11 interceptions. Georgia and Georgia Tech has offered scholarships.
8. Sharrod Golighty (SW DeKalb) – 5-11. 180. Golighty is probably one of the best blitzing safeties in the state. Last season he recorded 88 tackles and two interceptions. He has committed to Vanderbilt.
7. D.J. Green (Westside-Macon) – 6-4. 202.Green is very big and very physical. Is good in man-to-man coverage and in short zones. N.C. State will have his services in 2010.
6. Demetruce McNeal (Banneker) – 6-1. 175. Is another one of those players that can play outside linebacker or free safety. Does a good job covering an opposing teams slot receiver ot tight end. Has committed to Auburn.
5. Daunte Carr (Gainesville) – 6-2. 195. An exceptional athlete that made a lot of plays when he was with Buford last season. Posted 73 tackles and 3 interceptions last year and will play college ball at Stanford.
4. Fred Holton (Thomasville) - 6-1. 196. A very aggressive hitter that rarely misses tackles. Holton also has good speed and can excel in deep coverage. He has committed in Georgia Tech.
3. Tyrone Cornileus (Stephenson) – 6-2. 189. Can either play the outside linebacker or the strong safety spot at the next level. In 2008, he posted 118 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions. Has been offered by Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina, Tennessee and Auburn.
2. Isaiah Johnson (Sandy Creek) – 6-2. 180. Johnson is another athletic safety that is good in run support, but is better in pass coverage. Also has great running ability so he can take one to the house when given the chance. He has committed to the Jackets.
1. Alec Ogletree (Newnan) – 6-3. 214. Is considered by some as the best prospect in the state and the best safety in the nation. He has linebacker size but has the speed of a safety. Has great ball skills and is good in zone coverage. He has committed to UGA.
