Welcome to Sports by Fletch, where I rant and rave, usually about UGA, high school sports and sometimes pro sports. Thanks for reading and I hope you come back.

Grady holds on for win over Blessed Trinity
The Grady Grey Knights took the field seeking a second win of the year and seeking a measure of revenge against Blessed Trinity from a 17-14 defeat one year ago. The Grey Knights defense came to play early, stopping the Titans on the game’s opening drive and then junior Kivon Taylor found DeShawn Benton on a 22-yard scoring connection on third down to give Grady an early 7-0 lead. Following a Blessed Trinity field goal, Grady appeared to score again when Taylor found Darren Dowdell but the touchdown was wiped away on a penalty. Grady would miss a subsequent field goal. In the second half, Grady’s Taylor to Benton connection worked twice more on one drive, setting up a one-yard scoring sneak by Taylor. With Blessed Trinity facing an eleven point-deficit, junior QB Spencer McManes hooked up with Chris Dore for a 37-yard score to cut the lead to 14-9. After missing the two-point conversion, Dore would recover the onside kick but the Titans failed to mount a game-winning score. Blessed Trinity managed just three points in four trips inside the red zone. Meanwhile Grady’s Isiah Jenkins rushed for over 100 yards for the second straight week. Grady improved to 2-0 while Blessed Trinity fell to 1-2 on the year.
