ML King is LOADED, Printz headed to SMU?

Jonquel Dawson and the ML King Lions laid it on South Gwinnett last Thursday and a vibe is starting to spread about the eventual matchup against the Stephenson Jaguars. Many were simply handing Stephenson the region based on talent, but ML King defeated the Jags last year and could well again this year. Blake Tibbs, the fantastic Lions receiver made the Score 44, joining his teammate Kendarius Whitehead. If Dawson keeps this level of play up, he could find himself on the Score 44 sooner rather than later. The AJC's Michael Carvell called Dawson the best QB in the state...

PS, Carnell Boyd made his ML King debut against South Gwinnett. The former Westlake standout is just another weapon for coach Michael Carson and the Lions on an already-lethal offense…

In a recruiting world shocker, Lassiter junior quarterback Eddie Printz decided to end his process by declaring that he will go and suit up for June Jones at SMU. While some may scratch their heads over the decision, when one steps back and looks at the offense Jones runs, it is similar to the one Printz plays in now and Jones did turn out several NCAA record holders in Timmy Chang and Colt Brennan while at Hawaii. Perhaps Jones sees Printz as the key to SMU’s rise to the Boise State/TCU marquee mid-major level…

One of the state’s top senior running backs entering the season has seen his senior season cut short due to an injury. North Atlanta’s Justin Taylor tore his right ACL last week, though reports say that Alabama and Nick Saban will honor their offer to the back. Alabama also has a pledge from Hillgrove standout Kenyon Drake, who scored five touchdowns last week against Marietta...

The poor weather has forced several postponements of some of Northwest Georgia’s athletic events. The Ridgeland/Cartersville softball game has been rescheduled for September 12. Meanwhile Ridgeland and Gordon lee will travel to Ringgold on September 26 for a volleyball tri-match. Lastly LaFayette’s volleyball tri-match scheduled for yesterday at Gilmer will not be made up, according to PrepCentralOnline.
