Thoughts on Week3 of GHSA football (3rd full week)

This is Cobb County’s best chance at winning a state title in several years. McEachern has already taken on and beaten Gwinnett power North Gwinnett and has beaten a South Georgia power in Lowndes. Trent Thompson and Darius English are for real and the Indians have a coach that won’t be overwhelmed by the situation in Kyle Hockman...

However Lassiter has Eddie Printz at quarterback and the Trojan junior signal-caller showed his skills in a 56-35 thumping of North Cobb, passing for 390 yards and four scores. Charlie Hegedus snagged two of the scores and 127 yards...

Kenyan Drake of Hillgrove added another 113 yards rushing and a score in the Hawks 45-0 win over North Forsyth...

Kell is also a threat to claim the 4A crown and the Longhorns went into a tough environment at Woodstock and came out with a 36-12 victory, allowing a late score to “only” win by 24. AJ Redwine, Jordan Chambers, and Chris Gaines give Derek Cook a powerful running game but Kendall Crute can also step up in the passing game if needed. Kell is scary-good, considering the squad’s only loss came when it fumbled a punt inside its own ten-yard line against one of the nation’s best teams, a 7-0 loss to Grayson...

Collins Hill may have felt that it gave away a golden opportunity to pull off an upset of ML King, but credit the Lions for taking advantage of early Eagles’s miscues to jump out to a 12-0 lead. Jonquel Dawson-to-Blake Tibbs is a treat to watch and that combo could make real noise as the season continues...

I continue to be impressed with Flowery Branch. Lee Shaw simply reloads...

I am not certain an all-star team comprised of players from the rest of the AA top ten could beat Buford.
