Norcross quite good after all...Down goes Foster

I will admit when I am wrong and I was wrong about Norcross. I based my initial opinion on them from a game early in the season but the Blue Devils have been turning it on each and every week since then. Norcross is undefeated and ready to move into the Score Atlanta Top Ten (the coaches poll lists Norcross at No.5), led by Jason Croom, an original member of the 2011 Score 44. The running game showed up Friday and Norcross could very well win its region by knocking off North Gwinnett at home on October 7. ...

Parkview got a big 20-7 win over South Gwinnett last Friday to improve to 2-0 in region play. The Panthers are just 2-2 on the year but with the meat of the region slate approaching, you have to wonder how good Cecil Flowe’s team would be had Raphael Kirby and Kyle Fleetwood not transferred out. ...

Juan Foster, one of the state’s top junior running backs is likely out for the season after suffering a broken tibia in Vidalia’s win over Long County. Foster rushed for more than 1000 yards last year and had racked up seven scores in the team’s first four games, along with 430+ yards. ...

The Columbus Blue Devils volleyball team won the silver bracket at last weekend’s Hoover Invitational. After a 1-3 first day of the tournament, Columbus rallied to win three matches Saturday to take the silver bracket. Columbus edged Lakeside DeKalb (25-21, 25-11), Athens Academy (25-16, 25-16) and Houston (TN) (25-23, 25-20).
