Making picks, socially!

Before we get into our weekly picks, I want to recall what happened to me this morning. An a-hole driving a Hummer ignored a traffic light while cutting me off, switched lanes without a signal then cut back in front of me without a signal again with no regard to my being. I was mad at this guy at first, but then I thought about what happened three days ago when America elected the next Karl Marx to its highest office and then felt kinda bad for the guy. Pretty soon, once Obama's plan goes into full effect, I will get part of that Hummer through socialism, right? Can some one explain that to me?

On to the picks!

Baylor @ #4 Texas. Who was it that said that Baylor might just knock off Okie State a few weeks back? Kirk Herbstreit, that's right. The HAPPIEST man in America after Florida beat UGA. He was finally right about Florida being the best team in the SEC East. I wonder if he puts Texas on "upset alert" this week? Doubt it. Horns hook em. On a positive note though in regards to Baylor. My sisah-in-law, who went to Baylor was recently featured in an article in the Cincinnati paper about the Latin Program at her school. Go Lil AJ!

#14 Duh Ohio State @ #24 Northwestern. The Baying Darwins are at home, but I can't think that the majik that Ryan Field has will propel them past the Buckeyes. I will give Cuyler Gibbons a shoutout though since he called me up during the UGA game and said that Stafford's arm is better than anything he can recall seeing in the Big11 in 20 years. Thanks Mr. Gibbons! Buckeyes win.

Purdue @ #18 Michigan State. So in the ONLY game Michigan State has played all season, they get spanked...AT HOME to the suckeyes, yet they are STILL #18? They need to get UGA's agent. Take Sparty

Michigan @ Minnysota. Did David Pollack on 790 REALLY say that Tennessee is considering Tim Brewster of minnysota as the next in line after Fulmer? If you are a Vols fan and you just fired Fulmer, who JUST took you to an SECCG (and by IJ's standards, should have had its QB drafted number 3 overall...) to hire TIM BREWSTER? WHAT? You had better check yourself. But I DID love that Pollack picked right up where Chuck Oliver left off, "A guy you've never heard of, Brian Kelly of Cincinnati..." That is like saying, "a guy you've never heard of, Obama won the presidential race..." But Michigan stinks. Sorry John in Downtown. Take Minnysota

Arkie @ SoCar. Is South Carolina rounding RIGHT in to shape just in time for the Florida game next weekend? Let's hope so! Maybe SoCar can knock off Florida, then spurrier rides off into the sunset. AND UGA goes to the SEC CHampionship game....wait Florida ALSO has to lose to Vandy. Crap. Nevermind. SoCar wins here at home. Arkie isn't good enough to win on the road.

Wyoming @ Tennessee. Think homecoming is going to be very fun this year? I don't think so. Think Eric Berry will be consulted whenever the next coach is hired? He IS the best QB on the team and they have him stuck at Safety. No WONDER Fulmer is outta there! Vols eek one out.

Tennessee-Martin @ Auburn. You KNOW the Tennessee-Martin head coach is thinking, "If I win this game, I might get HIRED at Auburn!" And you know Tuberville just gulped when Tennasty decided to eat 10M to get rid of Fulmer and hire his replacement. He is now squarely on the hot seat now...all by himself. That said, has Auburn earned the heaters on the sidelines? Just wondering...... War Eagles win-I mean Plainsmen..

Kansas @ Nebraska. Didn't KU put up 90 on these guys last year? I heard that Nebraska has worked out all season with this game in mind. Won't matter. KU still has Todd Reesing and Nebraska is still 3 years away. Rock Chalk Jayhawk in this one.

#1 Bama @ #16 LSU. Oh boy I wonder what those CRAZY LSU fans will have in store for Saban. Maybe they will wear their purple batman outfits that they love to don for these types of games. I tell you, the way UGA was able to go in and hang 50+ on them, and Bama thumped UGA by 11 (another point that angered IJ last week...) will Bama put 60+ on them? I don't know why LSU fans are so upset with Saban. He won them a title and set them up for another one. Be happy with Les Miles and shut up. If you don't want to pay your coach 5M a year then shut up. Bama Rolls.

#3 Penn State @ Iowa. So should I root for Penn State to go undefeated and appear in the BCSCG to take one spot away from Florida...or do I root for PSU to lose and hope that OU or Texas would sneak past Florida into the game? I KNOW Florida would beat PSU, but if we put them out of it, that means Florida and Tebow and Urban have a better chance of making it...but they would likely play a team that ACTUALLY could beat them. Hmmmmm. Decisions decisions. I say let's root for Penn State to play Alabama. Yeah, Go Fighting Cakes!

#6 Oklahoma @ TAMU. Because going on the road in the Big12 is SOOOOO tough. You have to watch out for ROTC guys making out with their girlfriends and Cows. But I guess when you go to Kyle Field, they openly acknowledge that they cheat-12 Men? Texas A&M could have 16 men out there and they'd still lose to OU. ALL of TAMU's players stink.

Stanford @ Oregon; Oregon State @ UCLA; Arizona @ U-Dub. PAC 10 FOOTBALL! GET SWEPT UP INIT! Seriously I could watch an Arkansas/MissState game. WHY? Because REAL athletes play in those games. These games...I don't even thing Playstation2 simulates these games in a "season." I think the PS2 breaks or protests!

K-State @ #14 Mizzou. So they actually commissioned a report to say that there aren't a great number of black head coaches at the D-1 level? Ron Prince is out at K-State next season and with Ty Losingham leaving U-Dub, apparently there are only 4. (Don't worry though, Sly Croom isn't going anywhere, even though his team isn't either...) This is the lowest number since 1993. My question is though, did we REALLY need a study done for this? Couldn't some one just have looked at the list of headcoaches without having to conduct a "study"? How much did this thing cost? The next study they are commissioning is apparently, "What month comes after November?" Mizzou wins. The SECOND best 2-loss team in the country (after UGA, of course!)

#9 Okie State @ #2 Texas Tech. I know there will be a bit of a letdown after the Texas game, but at HOME, Tech won't lose. Plus, won't it be fun to watch Okie State fold down the stretch, then get waxed at home next year by UGA? I will love it. I wonder if Gundy will go OFF should this happen. No, I am rooting for Texas Tech to take this one so Florida gets shut out of the BCSCG. Sore loser? YOU BETCHA! Thanks Sarah Palin!

#5 Florida @ Vandy. Playing in Nashville, on a Saturday night is hard to do.....if you are a country singer. If you are a football player, no big deal. I'd LOVE for Bobby Johnson to take down Florida then cash in with the Klimpsen coaching job...but he can't do it. Florida is too good. Darn it Tim Tebow! I heard Superman dressed as Tebow for Halloween.

#21 Cali @ #7 USC. I have it from my USC connection that Cali always plays USC close. My question...why is Cali ranked? USC cruises.

Notre Dame @ BC. The Catholics v the Catholics. I wonder if they are Catholic when ND recruits them, or if they convert? Do you think they go to all of the Masses? Does Clausen have to confess when he sucks it up? I think he should have to. Take the Fupas on the road.

Professional ranks
Nawlins @ Atlanta. Apparently this is a rivalry? Hmmmm is Nawlins mad because the Atl stole all of its homeless people after Katrina? I wish they would all Geaux home after the game! Maybe they can hop aboard the team charter! Hey Drew Brees, if you don't like all of the homeless people you have to walk past to get into the Dome, just remember, they used to live in the NOLA! Who wins? I think The Dirty Birds do, and IJ tries to get me started again on Ryan v Stafford.

Blue Plate Specials
Lock of the week
Klimpsen @ #22 FSU. Hey Flawrda State, way to fumble that game vs GT away. You guys stink. Oh well. Not as bad as Dabo's boys. Bobby Bowden will show NO mercy on the Tiggers now that Tommy has been shown the door. You KNOW Tommy said, "Daddy, can you please spank them with no underpants on cause they firert me?!" And Bobby will dadgum it!

Upset of the week
UVA @ Wake. UVa usually comes thru for me on these whenever I ask for it. Al Groh managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory last week v Miami. He got OUTCOACHED by Randy Shannon. WOW. That is like being a smurf and still getting outshorted. WOW. But Al Groh will save his job by beating the UVa alum Grobe. Groh WILL STAY!

Local eyes upon them
#20 GT @ #19 UNC. So Mark Bradley of the AJC said that Tech is having a better season than UGA. Hmmmm. Identical 7-2 records, only Tech has done it in the cakewalk known as the ACC and UGA has done it v SEC. Tech lost to the two VA schools, including once at home, while UGA lost at home and in the other school's state? I think we will all see who had the better year when Tech gets creamed betwixt the Hedges. GT, get excited for the Chick-fil-a bowl. You lose in Chapel Hill.

#13 UGA @ UK. The last time UGA was in Lexington, the fans stormed the field following the big upset. The Dawgs will still be hung over from last week's beatdown and the early start won't help things. Good thing KM24 doesn't like upseting the rotation, otherwise UGA might be in trouble......How about he just take this game OFF, so he doesn't get hurt. I hope BooBoo just calls Stafford to pass it 60 times and keep KM24 on the bench the whole game. "Umm Sorry Knowshon, we are going 5 wide...the whole game." UGA wins, most likely ugly and punches a ticket for the Cotton Bowl. (The sad part, this is a Chick-fil-a knockout bowl. The loser of this game goes to the Dome NYE)
