CHANGE THE NAME!

Just a suggestion as I watch John Smoltz struggle through the first two innings in the rubber match against the Mets. (Wow, the Braves WIN the Jair Jurrgens game, then lose the huddy game and they are down 3-0 after two with Smoltzie on the hill. To Quote Weezer, the world has turned and left me here. turned upside down if you will)

But if the Braves REALLY wanted to keep Big Tex next season even though everyone is saying how much he will cost, I have a suggestion for the new owners, Liberty Media. SELL THE NAMING RIGHTS TO THE STADIUM.

Yeah, it is nice that the Braves owner decided to name the stadium after himself after the Olympics back in the day, but come on. That would be a big source of income RIGHT THERE. THe Indians just got 57.6M for 16 years to call Jacobs' Field Progressive. Are you telling me Home Depot or Delta or Chik-fil-a wouldn't jump on the chance to name that stadium?

Now if you are worried about not having a cool nickname for the stadium like you do now with The Ted, then let me help you guys out.

Sell it to Chik-fil-a and call it The Nugget
Sell it to Cheetah and call it The Strip
Sell it to Home Depot and call it the Shed.

Or my two favorites,
Maxi Field and call it The Pad
or Tampax Stadium and call it The Stick

It could work. Just putting it out there. If you REALLY want to resign Tex, sell the rights to Tampax for 100M for the next 20years and then find another 80M and keep the switch-hitting/doesn't believe in spring training beast locked in that cleanup spot. More on this topic on Friday's Extra innings show. be sure to tune in

Finally, the Braves lost the final game of the three game series with the New York Mets 6-3 today as the biggest chance to get back into the game was squashed with the Braves down 4-3, the Mets got a run to make it 5-3 after the Braves had rallied from down 4-0. In the 7th, I believe Big Tex hit one to the wall with a runner on, but it was snatched by Ryan Church JUST before he collided with Beltran, but he held on to the ball. Drats. A run in the bottom of the inning made it 6-3 instead of a tied 5-5 score and the Braves were done in by Wags for the second straight night. Wow, it must be nice to have a strong closer like that. Hopefully Gonzo can be our Wags.
Also, I can't believe Smoltzie went out like that. 4 innings before bowing out of the game, having surrendered 4 runs. Yesh. Come on Top of the Rotation. Huddy and Smoltz aren't supposed to fold like that with a chance to sweep the Mets. Oh well. The Braves now sit at 12-13 and at least 2.5 games behind first and 1.5 behind the Mets. Still a long season to go and Chipper was out the last two games. That offers hope that if they can HANG around (alligator blood) maybe they can take this thing when the bullpen gets healthy.
