Now we are REALLY in trouble

Our ace in the hole couldn't make it past the third inning. The Braves MAY be doomed. I am just playing. It is WAYYYYY to early to be saying the Braves are done for the year, but tonight certainly didn't help your season. You have just lost two straight and you need a BIG performance from Huddy the stopper.....
That being said, I don't think he should have been collared with the loss. Maybe I am biased.
The Braves lost a golden chance in the top of the 7th as Chipper had some runners on and down only one, but a grounder to third ended that rally. Then in the bottom of the 7th, the Marlins waited for a walk, then blasted a homer to go up three.

That would be huge as in the top of the eighth, Tex JUST missed a home run then Frenchy JUST missed a home run and stroked a double. The two would score, but a double play from Kotsay would end the rally with the Braves down 1 still.
In the top of the 9th the Braves couldn't get anything started and the big bats were left in the dugout as not rally was mounted.

The walks in this series have been troubling and now the Braves turn to the elder statesman of the pitching staff to try and end this skid. Smoltzie needs to put together a quality start and DARE the bullpen to blow it. Hopefully the pen can keep this thing on lock, and it MAY be a good idea to NOT LET BENNETT PITCH today.

If Smoltz is smart with his pitches, lets his defense help him out and if he can get some support, he might go 7+ then let Manny Acosta wrap this thing up. He seems to be the only HEALTHY arm down in the pen these days.
