Before I get into the rest of my thoughts thus far on this spring training baseball season, let me start by asking something that I am surprised NO ONE ELSE is throwing out there. This A-Rod "injury".....are we sure this isn't a secret suspension?
Could Bud Selig be "suspending" A-Rod for 50 games for that steroid admission, but they are going to call it an injured labrum? Maybe this is why there is so much talk of "should he have surgery/no he's just going to rest it."
I hate to be this jaded, but could this just be a suspension in disguise? Kind of like how MJ "retired" from the Bulls to play baseball for 22 months, or 150 games. Hmmmmm.
How many games would A-Rod miss if he missed 6-8 weeks of the season. You have to think 6 games per week....36-48 games. 1st time popped with the juice is 50 games....I wonder if A-Rod will need "a little longer," perhaps two games after those 8 weeks....would be an even 50. Hmmmmm.
Moving on...speaking of the Yankees, this means Mark Teixeira will need to produce in the early part of the season to make up for the loss of A-Rod's bat. Well good thing he is known for his fast starts....wait...
I saw where the Braves have two of the top 5 Baseball America top 100 prospects in Jason Heyward and Tommy Hanson. Too bad Schuerholz traded away Neftali Perez and Elvis Andrus and Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Matt Harrison for Lil Tex in 2007. Then the Braves would have had 4 of the top 10, with Salty at first and Matt Harrison, who won 9 games last year. But hey, at least Tex showed up and played hard the first few months of last season....
Manny FINALLY signed with the Dodgers. 2 years/45M. Way to take that offer off of the table there McCourt!
Lastly, the NL East will be the most exciting division to follow all season. Sorry NYY/BOS/TB, but the NYM/Philly/ATL race will be more exciting. Maybe I'm biased.

Well Done, right up there with the Michael Jordan Baseball "retirement" fiasco.
