More Basketball than the City

Last night's The City episode was a bit of a letdown. The previews told the entire story and not much more was added to it. PLEASE don't tell me that the City has peaked ALREADY. That would be sad.

But first let's get into basketball. I see where UConn is the new #1, and while I don't have a problem with that(even though UNC is still clearly the best team!), I think that OU should still be getting some love for that top spot right now. The two games they've lost recently, they played without the player of the year Blake Griffin. I thought he was a bit of a puss for sitting out with a "concussion" after getting whapped on the nose, but when he DOES play, he's a beast. Plain and simple there.
They always say that "you don't lose your starting spot due to injury." Well OU shouldn't lose its top spot now that Griffin is back. Give them some love. They've got Willie Warren, aka the best freshman in the country along side Griffin. They are pretty daggone good. Can't wait to see them in the F4 v UNC.

Speaking of UNC, they just dismantled Georgia Tech last Saturday. The talent gap was as wide as the Grand Canyon, but maybe it shouldn't have been? We had Larry Hartstein on our radio show last Sunday and he is the GT beat writer for the AJC. He was defending Paul Hewitt to the death it seemed against myself and Scott, one of my cohosts. We were in the party that it might be time to kick Hewitt to the curb. Hartstein has said that the Jackets haven't stopped playing or fighting, but I watch the games. They just stink. Are they continuing to play? Well they still run five players out there, but are they "still playing?" I can't really say that. I see Lewis Clinch jacking up threes, trying to up his scoring numbers. I see Aminu, not scratching his potential. I see Lawal, still trying to show he can be a lottery pick. But these guys aren't playing to win anymore. They KNOW they are going to go 1-15. Not good. I say can Hewitt and if two of his five recruits bail, so be it. The two or three that stick around will give the new coach a foundation with which to work. And Derrick Favors is a one-and-done. IF Hewitt stays, Favors is there for ONE YEAR, what does that accomplish? They end up in the NIT or the first round of the NCAA, and Tech is stuck with Hewitt through 2012, idling in mediocrity. Enjoy that Teckkies. Come to the dark side, FIRE YOUR COACH!

Elsewhere in the NCAA, Duke beat VaTech thanks to some shady officiating, meaning the ACC wants 2 #1 seeds in the big dance, OR it wants a Duke/UNC matchup in the ACC tourney.
Clemson lost again.....shocker!

LSU is the SEC regular season champ. Watch out though, the defending SEC tourney champ is still lurking. What am I talking about. UGA just lost by 20+ to ARKANSAS!

Finally, the City. Why did Olivia steal the credit for the heinous jacket that last night? Doesn't she realize that the people will watch the saw? Oh wait, they probably won't? And it doesn't matter anyways because they already read the script and NEW that Olivia would steal the credit? Whitney shouldn't worry about that.

And hey Erin, since you broke up Allie and Adam, the LEAST you could do is offer to let your NEW BFF (apparently) Alien-errr Allie stay with you while she is looking for a house. i am sure your couch is more comfortable than her spaceship!
FInally, that Danielle chick Jay used to date....she's kinda hot. Rockstars shouldn't be tied down. The rockstars need to live that rockstar life, which means multiple women and lots of STDs. If you love something (greasy), you have to set it free, Whitney!

You are aware that Griffin was not "concussed" by Pittman's smack across the nose, but Dogus Balbay's Randy-Savage-like elbow to the back of the head? And, that it took two people to keep Griffin on the bench during the Texas game, and that he was vomiting and feeling dizzy until the Wednesday after the Kansas game? No doctor worth his license would have cleared him to play.

I am arguing that Blake Griffin is the player of the year and that OU still deserves to be #1. I am on the Boomer Sooner bandwagon, until they play UNC. It is a nice time to be a Sooner right now with Bradford and now Griffin.

I DO like the wrestling reference though. Keep reading!
