The Body sez: OU stinks, Long Live Te-haas!

Sportsbyfletch correspondent Paul "The Body" Mac weighs in on the Big12 South sending OU to the B12CG over Texas.....

A couple of years ago Oklahoma lost a game to a team they were superior too on the road on a fluke play at the end of the game. They had Bob Stoops and Adrian Peterson.

Oklahoma was the better team with better talent and better coaching and they lost on a fluke play at the end of a game. They choked.

Texas also lost on a fluke play after a missed interception at the end of a game. Away. At the end of a run of difficult games.

Texas and Oklahoma are relatively even as shown by the BCS standings and basic observation. Texas beat them by 10 pts in a location where the tickets are evenly distributed among the alumni offices a month ago. There is no reason to believe Oklahoma is somehow now a better team than Texas because Texas lost on the last play of a game to an inferior team.

Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things? No. Oklahoma will lose and lose mightily in the National Championship game because that's just what they do. They are Chokelahoma and they still have a crappy defense.

The proper outcome based on the rules sends Oklahoma to the championship game. That's fine. But the idea that they lost by ten pts to Texas in a heads up matchup between two even teams a month ago and that somehow is insignificant now to me is humorous. Texas blew it by not taking care of an inferior team, but they beat the then number 1 team in Oklahoma and Oklahoma got the advantage of playing Texas Tech at home on two weeks rest. They are not in anyway better than Texas and they in fact played a game this year and lost. Texas Tech is tied only because of luck. They aren't really in the discussion with either of those two teams. I have no problem eliminating them because they aren't as good. It's like saying Utah or Boise State or Ball State deserve to be in the national championship game because they are undefeated.

Texas Tech had a good year. They beat Texas and that's awesome. They also beat a good Oklahoma State team.... but on the road, after they had a couple of tough home games in a row... they got their head kicked in by Oklahoma, because they don't have the same level of athletes on both sides of the ball that Texas and Oklahoma have, therefore even though the record is the same and they found a way to beat Texas... their opportunity fell by the wayside when they got blasted by Oklahoma. They followed that up with nearly losing to Baylor. No they aren't in the same league as Texas or Oklahoma and I find it in poor taste that the two best teams are tied and yet the head to head matchup is ignored.

Love Mike Leach though going to Graduation Rates... that's good comedy.

The Big 12 is a joke in the way the conference is broken into divisions. has anyone from the North EVER been good? K-State? Mizzou? Kansas? REALLY guys? The South is LOADED and the Big12 should have done what the ACC did and somehow make it so OU and Texas play every year in the B12CG (like Miami and FSU were supposed to do).

At least with the SEC you have powers on BOTH sides of the division.

And we STILL want to hear what it was like to tailgate at a Big11 school. I bet those Northerners get drunk so they can simply make it through a 6-4 Iowa/PSU game. Indiana.....what a POWER!
