Honestly? How does he manage to lose these guys? How does Dennis "The Menace" manage to lose out to schools in North Carolina (Wake and NC State) on these local kids such as JJ Hickson (Marietta to NC State) and Al-Faroq Aminu (Norcross to Wake) and Tony Woods (also to Wake). How does it happen? Jodie Meeks to Kentucky hurts too! And Trae Golden is committed to Ohio State? Come on!
For Hickson and Aminu, they are one-and-done players so it isn't like they are picking somewhere to spend the next 4 years of their lives. They are going there for 9 months before departing to go to the NBA. ALL YOU NEED TO HAVE IS PRETTY GIRLS (Athens: CHECK) and a pretty campus (CHECK).
And PLEASE don't even get me started on how Felton lost out on Aminu AND Woods to a dead coach. They committed to Prosser, then STILL went there even after he died (tragically, yeah, but Felton couldn't have stepped in to inquire if they were interested in perhaps looking elsewhere?)
The only reason I bring this up is that Derrick Favors of South Atlanta High School is likely a one-and-done, and he is looking for a school for next season. This guy is considered to be the top prospect IN THE COUNTRY, so let's get this guy onto Campus. It needs to happen. He can spend his one year at UGA and then go be a lottery pick. PLEASE Felton. You are in the final three with GT and NC State. Keep him in state. We can't keep losing these guys to out of state.
And Felton, if you are using the whole "Well we don't want to recruit one-and-dones because it doesn't help the lasting power of our team," I say BULLCRAP! NCAA Tournament appearances don't help when building a program? Give me a break.
Paul Hewitt once bemoaned the one-year wonders when he lost Thaddius Young and Javaris Crittendon after one season. They were both lotto picks. I think THAT was coaching that you couldn't turn one-and-dones into something. Thad Matta managed to at Ohio State. He took them to the finals! Ask Syracuse if it regrets Carmelo Anthony's one year: A Title!. Ask Coach Cal if he regrets Derrick Rose's lone season: A TRIP THE THE NCAA FINALS and what would have been a title if Rose could have hit his free throws! The one-and-gones are also great because you can mold each season's team to a particular strength of a player. If he's a point guard, you RUN that year. If he's a Post, you slow it down. You can be fluid as a coach, which isn't a bad thing. You must though adapt your style to what your players can do. Bruce Pearl manages to do it, but for WHATEVER reason, Felton doesn't. COME ON DENNIS
I just want Felton to REALLY push to get some of these guys and if he again fails to come up with them in the future, perhaps maybe THEN Damon Evans can look at his coach and question his ability to do his job. I just remember when Jim Harrick arrived at UGA, he said that he could be successful by just building a fence around the state. Sure enough, his first recruiting class (excluding Ezra Williams from Cobb County, if remember correctly), he had Rashad Wright(from GA), Chris Daniels (Albany, GA), Steve Thomas (Carrolton, GA) and the Hayes Bros decided they'd transfer over from WCU (but they were from College Park originally). WOW! ALL FROM GEORGIA! But Felton for WHATEVER reason decided to go to New York and Wisconsin and Maryland and Virginia Beach to get talent. He finally tried to go instate, but got burned I guess with Louis Williams and Mike Mercer, so he decided to stop trying?
Felton get the top instate talent and keep it here. You just might keep your job longer and gain a few more fans! I'd rather go out with the local folks behind me rather than with the local folks rooting for NC State!

Who cares what players UGAy gets. You will still feel the wrath of the Jackets. Your football team gets all these 4 and 5 star recruits and can't even win their division. How about that b-ball game last week? First we dominate on the gridiron, then we dominate on the hardwood. 45-42, 67-62, suck it!
