Chipper reaches a milestone as Braves take series

By the time Chipper came to the plate in the 6th, the Braves had the lead at 6-5. His 400th Home run was just icing on the cake, as well as a big insurance run. Chip went 4-5 last night, raising that average to .413+ and for the dude's career he can say, "400 the right way." I believe he punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame last night with a run at .400 and 400 HRs and not to mention so of the smoothest Defense you will ever see at the hot corner.
I said this last night on the Ed Voyles Honda Extra Innings show (which I forgot to tag coming back from the second break and got a call from the boss man. Crap!) I believe Chipper is the best third baseman in the game right now. I argued that A-Rod is a shortstop playing third because "captain" Derek Jeter is selfish. Chippah is better than David Wright (Easily), Mike Lowell, Scott Rolen, Glaus, Beltre, Zimmerman, you name, Chipper's better.
Other thoughts from the game....Jair Jurrjens got the win, despite a shaky start. 6 good innings though and SOriano shut the door on the game in the 9th. We likey that. As for McCann, the guy is just straight up fantastic. Can't say enough about Lumpy/Heaps.

As for tonight's topic, we are discussing potential moves the Braves could make down the stretch and/or by the trading deadline to take their first division crown in 3 years. I have proposed lil tex for AJ Burnette. Straight out signing Freddy Garcia. Bobby (my co-host) is interested in possibily acquiring Hudson Street from Oakland.

And finally, in reference to the draft yesterday, the Braves had given up their #18 overall in the Tom Glavine signing, and sure enough, Joshua Fields, former Braves' second round pick and current UGA closer would have been available. (He was taken No.20 overall by Seattle) The Braves ended up taking a lefty high school pitcher out of Niceville, Florida with the No.40 then took Zeke Spruill of Kell HS with their No.70.
(I believe I called that one in this week's Score Atlanta. Just saying.)

Overall this weekend's series with the Phils, the Braves IMO have the winnable matchup tonight in Huddy v Moyer and Sunday with Jorge Campillo v Adam Eaton. Saturday (Wifey's B-Day and a game we will be attending) may tip towards the Phils as Jo-Jo goes against Kyle Kendrick. We shall see. I think the Braves need to win AT LEAST two of three.
