Starting off with the Braves on Friday. With a 1-0 lead the bases loaded and a chance to end the series RIGHT there in the 4th inning of game one, Jeff Francoeur grounds into the 4-6-3 DP to end the inning and rally and from there Seattle decided to play.
With a new life, the Mariners scored and scored and scored some more in route to a 10-2 win over the Braves in game one of the three game set. I have said it before and will say it again, Frenchy has been a disappointment all season and he had a shot to end the series against the worst team in baseball and the ONLY team with a worse road record than Atlanta wins one on the road IN TURNER FIELD!
Ahhhhhhhh
About the Diamond Dogs, the Dawgs ran out to an early 4-1 lead, then got it up to 6-1 then 9-3 before giving Josh Fields, aka the best closer in college baseball a 10-4 lead in the ninth, and Joshua does his best Blaine Boyer impression in giving up 4 runs, including a 3-run home run to make things exciting. Most of the damage came after Fields thought he had struck a batter out to end the game, but the pitch was called a ball. The batter then ripped a single and two batters later the three run homer! Boom goes the dynamite. But Fields got the pop fly and UGA held off Stanford 10-8 to advance to the CWS final against either Frez-NO state or UNC, to be determined tonight or tomorrow. WOW.
Fields will get some rest and if anything, Perno can spin this thing positively in the Fields needs to redeem himself. But Fields might try too hard is the other side of that coin. I am glad for the rest and hopefully UNC can win tonight to force a game tomorrow so that winner will not get the extra day of rest.
But I like UGA' rotation set up with Holder Monday and Montgomery Tuesday. Fields hopefully can close out both Mon and Tues and UGA can jump into the Dawg pile which the CWS winner ALWAYS does at Rosenblatt Stadium.
Go Dawgs and can the Braves PLEASE beat Seattle tonight? you know, the "WORSTEST team in da Ah-murican League," according to Mel from Southwest Atlanta on EVHEI last night!
