Virginia to throw its former First Son under the bus

I want it on the record that I was no longer a full-time resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia when Michael Vick rose to prominance in Blacksburg, that black eye of Virginia. I was NOT there to vote to make Michael Vick the "golden child" of Virginia because if I HAD been, I certainly would NOT have cast a ballot in favor of that dude.

Then he followed me to Georgia somehow, and I got to witness how he was a criminal and lousy human being from right here in my own city. Could he play football? He played a certain-type of football, but after he refused to adapt and evolve once the rest of the league caught up to him and a blueprint was passed around of his game, he turned into a mess. Don't get me wrong, he COULD have changed the game, but after he stormed out in the playoffs and the Bucs came up with the blueprint in the 2001 playoffs, he DID change. Then in the 2004 playoffs, the Eagles came up with the new blueprint on how to stop him, but instead of adapting again, he stayed complacent and let the rest of the league turn him into a VERY mediocre QB. Even if he hadn't been in jail last year, the Falcons would have only gone 6-11. Let's not kid ourselves here. He was REFUSING to work and change and was getting worse by the game.
He was. You CANNOT argue that. The team's record got worse as did his stats.

Anyways, then it comes out that, even after all the chances he received with the maryjane, underage girls on myspace, and missing a Congressional breakfast, he gets popped for DOGFIGHTING. First he says it isn't true, then he cops a plea bargin. Yep, he ADMITS guilt to as little as he can. He was guilty. If he was innocent he wouldn't have had his boys turn on him and he would have wanted to clear his name. But he was trapped, so the gov't got as much as it could in a plea deal, KNOWING he would be going to jail for 23 months.

And now, the reason for this post....Virginia has announced that the state will wait until Vick's sentence is OVER before they will put him on trial for the state dogfighting charges. So once Vick ends his 23-month sentence, he could be going back to jail for another 12-18 months. Yeah. Wow. So that means he misses 2007,2008, MAYBE 2009 and possibly 2010, depending on the length of the prison term and With Roger Goodell in the NFL Commish's seat, Vick could be out ANOTHER year on a suspension. That would mean he isn't back on a playing field until 2011 or 2012? Wow. Hopefully that will teach some of these players a lesson. You think you are bigger than the law? The rules don't apply? The applied to Vick, who was deemed the face of the NFL by some people when he came into the league.

I do like that VA will make Vick face separate charges on his own and not concurrent with Federal Charges. Good. I love it.

Anyone that fights dogs, SHOULD be in jail for at least that long. Vick, Dude you deserve what is coming to ya, Bro! I really don't feel sorry for you. Just don't.
