Mike Gonzalez made his return last night, in his first action in 1 year, 2 weeks, three days...(that was a funny interview there. Too bad that girl couldn't have stopped by Tex's locker and ask him about spring training!)
And he was out there swaying back and forth, hypnotizing Rangers hitters in the bottom of the ninth, earning the save. Ladies and gentlemen, the Braves have a closer! Forget Soriano, Acosta, and THANKFULLY Blaine Boyer. Gonzo aka The Cobra is BACK! He was firing in the mid-90s and dropping that breaking ball in effectively as well.
As for De Bravos....Chipper got a homer and went 2-5, good for him. Frenchy is helping his trade value with that run in the ninth. Greg White had a huge RBI triple in the ninth. I like that.
Jo-Jo Reyes aka Wake me Up before you Jo-Jo, gave another strong outing. 7 innings 1ER, but a no decision as Jeff Bennett pitched the 8th and qualified for the win.
Good for the Braves and get that win today to get the mo for the Marines series this weekend.
But the Cobra is BACK and that is fantastic. Either he helps gets the Braves back in this THANG....or the Braves need to move him come July 31 for some future bullpen help. But I think this guy could be resigned at a relatively low price. he's an asset. Let's hold on to him. Don't let him escape to Anaheim or Chicago (Cubs) or either of the NYs or Boston.
