A bad night for Atlanta-based baseball teams

a little good news/bad news for Fletcher. The good news is the SEC regular season champion Georgia Diamond Dawgs beat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for the first time this season after losing 11-1 at home last week to these gnats. A solo shot in the first inning by Peisel helped the team rebound from potentially a dangerous early hole and the team held on to win 3-2. Closer Joshua Fields is a beast. He was the 69th overall pick last season (by the Braves in the second round) and I thought maybe he was crazy for coming back to UGA, but I was glad he did, and he MAY have made himself some serious coin by returning. The Braves may have to take him in the first round to get him back this year. I know Gordon Beckham will be the POY for the Dawgs, but with Joshua Fields in the bullpen, that HAS to help the rotation, if not the entire team knowing that a game is only 7 or 8 innings long.

As for the Braves, the score 3 in the first, then get the bases loaded in the second.....and they don't score again until 2 outs in the 9th. WASTED OPPORTUNITIES! You had Kyle Kendrick on the ropes and you LET HIM OFF THE HOOK! Thank you Denny Green. Brian McCann popped out to end the bases loaded threat in the second and he DID get an RBI "double" in the 9th (as the CF completely misplayed the ball) the rally was killed by Frenchy who LET Brad Lidge off the hook. this is a guy with a fragile mindset and he just walked a dude so what do you do? IMMEDIATELY get in an 0-2 hole. Good Work Frenchy! Way to pull an Andruw as you are seeking a HUGE payday.
Otherwise, KJ was moved down in the order and went 2-4 with some nice swings. Kotsay looked sharp in the 2 hole. I like Kotsay. I hope he is in the Braves' future plans somehow, someway.
Jo-Jo the Monkey boy looked strong, giving up 4 runs (he may have been charged a 5th since Jorge Campiallos or whatever has developed Blane Boyer syndrome. SOMEONE GET HOUSE ON THIS!) And has Chris Resop retired and just not told me?

Let's hope Tommy Glavine can get his first win of the season tomorrow. The Braves are just 1-4 on the current road trip and they have 2 more in Philly before Oaktown comes to the Ted.
