Sorry, but the internet was down at home. Here are my thoughts about the Braves from the last two against Oakland, care of Score Atlanta's Braves Beat section...
Things turned ugly though in the next game as team ace Tim Hudson was denied his seventh win of the year. He allowed five runs in five innings and got zero support from his offense. The Braves trailed 5-1 entering the ninth inning, and that’s when the action heated up. Mark Teixeira doubled to start the inning of A’s closer Hudson Street and he advanced to third on Francoeur’s single. A fielder’s choice scored one run, then Kelly Johnson tripled in another to make it 5-3. With the tying run at the plate, a sac-fly made it 5-4, but the Braves could get no closer. In Sunday’s finale, Jo-Jo Reyes gave the Braves a fine outing and Omar Infante tripled home two runs in the bottom of the eighth to give the Braves the 5-2 win.
IN OTHER NEWS …
For catching as much heat for the early part of the season as any bullpen in baseball, the Braves’ relievers had a pretty impressive scoreless streak for weekend. Beginning with Thursday’s tilt with the Phillies, the Braves bullpen had gone sixteen innings without allowing a runner to cross home. Chris Resop inherited two runners Saturday and neither scored. Stockman also recorded a strikeout in his first action since 2006.
