It looked like the Braves MIGHT finally have a chance to win a one run game. Then the 7th inning happened. The Braves were up 2-1 when the faithful at the Ted stretched after 6.5, but they might as well have stayed on their feet after "Thank God I'm a country boy" was played. The Braves scored 6 times in the frame thanks to a bases loaded walk and a double, single and sac fly. For good measure the boys netted another in the 8th before closing the deal in the 9th and putting Cincy out of its misery.
Good for the Braves, and good for Jo-Jo the monkey boy. (Wifey thought that ANYONE named Jo-Jo should come with cymbals.)
He really came through, and that would be nice if he would reach the potential the brass thought he had when they decided NOT to include him in the Tex trade, instead sending Matt Harrison plus another AA pitcher. Hopefully he can keep getting better
Also, Chipper continues to swing the hot bat, same with Yunel Escobar. The only thing with Yunel, quit flipping the bat. DUDE, you flied out to center. no need brother.
The bullpen did a NICE job coming in when the game was in doubt and closing the door. Let's keep this up.
Glavine had a NICE start, his first trip to the hill after a DL stint. Hopefully he can get his first victory as a Brave (this season at least) Sunday in the finale. He is 0-1 on the year, but tough-luck, he hasn't gotten any run support and he should AT LEAST be 2-1 if not 3-1.
The Bravos then have Monday off before facing the Pad-squad. They TOO are struggling. It would be SO NICE if the Braves could SWEEP this 6 game homestand and get RIGHT BACK into the NL East before heading to Philly. One can dream right?
Remember, my first Braves' Beat in Score Atlanta comes out Wednesday. Check the bottom of the page for the link.
Also the Braves go for .500 again tomorrow. 14-15 right now. But they are only 2GB. just hang around until the bullpen works itself out, and you are in a GREAT spot.
It should be an exciting SUMMER!
PS, I would root for the Hawks, IF they promise not to steal anymore of my broadcasts. Can you promise me that? No? Go Celtics then!
