But when I turned the TV on and heard that Chipper was scratched due to an injured groin (insert Philly Hooters joke....NOW!) and the Phillies, with Cole Hamels on the mound had a 1-0 lead after one, I knew the game was over. Sure enough, the Phillies added two more in the third and the bullpen didn't help matters any. Chuck James pitched four innings and took the loss as the Braves, for the third time this series allow 5 runs and this time they are held scoreless.
Oh well, the team returns home Friday for a three game set with the Oakland A's and maybe Frank Wren and Billy Beane will discuss that Joe Blanton trade (lil tex?). He wouldn't be bad right up there in the 2 spot of the rotation, but that leaves a hole at first and in the cleanup spot. but wait, there has been a hole there all year. More like a-hole there all year.
Hey, you want me to let lil tex off the hook for his spring training comment? Start HITTING!
If Chipper has to miss any real time, lil tex had BETTER start hitting and earning that 12.8M the Bravos are paying him, otherwise, even IF Saltalamacchia doesn't pan out with the Rangers, it still would have been a crappy trade. At least two of the 6 Atlanta sent will probably blossom and if lil tex gets out of here 0-2 in the playoff hunt, that will be a bad closing mark on JS's career. PICK UP THE SLACK MARK!
