Let's cut the cute crap, BOBBY!

Yeah, a pitcher has to pitch 5 innings in order to register for the win. Tommy Glavine was one out away from reaching the magical 5IP mark.
Then he gave up a double. Then a walk, his fifth of the day. Then another walk, his sixth of the day. He was over 100 pitches at this point and since he is the twin of the ancient mariner, MAYBE you should have yanked him from the contest. As much as he would have loved to have gotten the win, I am sure he would have rather the BRAVES have gotten the win instead of both losing! Glavine gave up the Grand Slam and the Braves went on to lose today 9-3, even though they led at the time of the at-bat 3-2.
Bobby didn't have a problem pulling Tommy from a start earlier in the year where he was up by several and had gone 4.2, needing only one pitch. Shoot, he pulled Campillo yesterday after four (but he did have a blister, I guess that's why). But just because you like Glavine and want him to get his third win of the year, you also have to look out for what is best for this team.
Glavine is NOT Smoltz. He just isn't. He cannot summon up a 95 mph slider or cut-fastball when he needs it. Just can't. He was having control issues all day and he gave up the Grand Dong because he didn't want to surrender an RBI walk.
As for lil tex, after finishing the Mets' series 9-14, he is thus far 0-11 against the D-Backs. Good thing he faces BWebb tomorrow. And let's hope Chipper's back issues go away soon. The team needs his bat in the lineup, if for nothing else so Omar Infante DOESN'T have to start.
The Braves needed this one and they let it slip away. Now I say they HAVE to win tomorrow to call this homestand a success. They are 7-3 right now, but if they lose 3 of 4 to Arizona to wrap it up, that kills any MO they might have gained from the Mets' sweep. Just one man's opinion, but then again, I have a show on 790The Zone about the Braves and I cover the Braves' Beat for Score Atlanta. So I know a bit about the team. I think they NEED a series tie to get some positive juice for the 6 game road trip to Milwaukee and Cincy, then the home series against the Marlins. If anything so the team will remember they CAN win against ANYONE at home when the Fish do come to town on June 2.
